    Wow, that’s an amazing job, is that a chrome frame? It’s such a spindly little thing I’d be worried about doing anything to it that may make it weaker. one of the fascinating characteristics of these ancient bone shakers is they vibrate so much at idle the bike literally goes for a walk, usually backwards, until it lodges against a solid, immovable object. Apparently those in the know always park them with the rear wheel up against the gutter at startup/warmup to keep it in place.

    It’s some sort of flat track racing frame, I can’t remember the maker off the top of my head. It’s nickel plated, not chrome.

    As I said, the client specified the best of everything.

    The frame was delivered in the white. My friend had it polished and plated.

    Rotors have arrived. Look good quality, bought them here in NZ from a company in Auckland, 1 year warranty. So should be able to put a few Ks on them before it expires. IMG_0529.JPG

    Massive pile of parts from JeofsXS at Londonderry for my new accusation. This guy has pretty much every part available for every xs 650 model ever built as well as a number of better than concourse restorations.     Someone has been shopping , don't you love new part's when they arrive.
    Actually have been talking to another XS supplier of spares , has a lot of good gear too , it's pretty amazing what's available for them.

    yep there is “mikes xs “ in the USA.
    I’d humbly suggest that given there is a home grown supplier who will even do exchange heads on 50 year old engines as well as supply any part required, it’s well worth supporting the local guy. I’m absolutely amazed at how comprehensive the supply of parts is.

    Yes , that's the seller , very good communication from this seller even though he's aware that i don't own a XS.
    I wasn't aware that there was Geoff's XS business in NSW ever existed , this is the place you mean ?.

    I better not hi jake the thread anymore , just in case before the Big Kahuna forces me to join the Dirty wheel club for punishment. :stayontopic: Gary , yes Boss :idk:.

    The local Kawasaki dealer rang saying my CCT has arrived. Hopped on the Hayabusa and went over to pick it up. So it begins, the assembly process. Looks like there might be some late nights ahead of me. Can't wait. IMG_0556.JPG IMG_0557.JPG

    This is a little long winded but bear with me.

    Many years ago when I was just starting out on bikes my dad took me for a ride, him on his R90/6 and me on his SRX600. We spent a lovely afternoon of him showing me his favorite twisty back roads in south western Pennsylvania. We ended up as his friend's place who happened to be the Ducati dealer for the area. I walked into the showroom and saw a lovely 851 strada and instantly fell deeply and madly. My dad was less favorably impressed and muttered things about "arrest me red" and "you'll kill yourself". Fast forward many years and this lovely thing gets delivered:

    It's a 1990, my favorite year. Not without it's issues, but that's what allowed me to actually buy it. It needs a full service and I can't get it to my shop until Monday but I'm pretty much over the moon at the moment. My dad's comment when I sent him the pic: "arrest me red".

    I just fitted one of these to w customers MT-07 tracer.

    I suggest not using the supplied crappy terminals and re-terminate with some proper connectors, we use the ones from the MCS catalogue complete with waterproof covers. You will need a proper crimping tool.

    The system works pretty much as advertised, I found it didn't keep the indicators going while stationary and you sometimes have manually press the centre return button on the switch block and re-try after they self cancel. They do self cancel after turning as advertised.

    Also fitted their brake light flasher / activator, which works based on deceleration. Can be set to normal brake light or flashing by flipping the unit one way or another.

    I need to suss out exactly where it it will go and where that part of the look is on the CB400SF. I would prefer to make a patch lead but not sure if I can get the right connectors etc..
    I think the time they stay on stationary or not turning is shortish...apparently they dont sense gentle merging but that is ok..
    The brake light is a good idea...
