Whilst reading @kiffsta Titan thread, I came across the SB1 Bimota which led me to a HB1 which led me down a trail that ended here. http://www.framecrafters.net/projects One of many, an RC171 replica in progress.
Yep dont worry , everyones favourites , Boofheads Inc, are back! https://www.discoveryuk.com/shows/american-chopper-2018/american-chopper-2018-episodes
They must of run out of money! Or, the Discovery Channel needed to get their ratings up so they turned to an old "favourite".
I was a big fan of the craftsmanship , just not the fights. I bet they are doing it for a lot less than the last few series they did.
Its interesting,I was watching a re-run the other day and while the metalwork skills are amazing, they are not done by either Senior or junior.. they have real craftsmen to do that. The rest of the stuff they mostly buy and assemble. They have on occasion built frames from scratch but generally not. I was always a big fan of the workmanship of Indian Larry on Biker Build-off. He was "old skool"
I'm within a few hours ride of both of their shops. Been there once, just to see. Meh.....just parts orderers and assemblers for the most part.
Yes, that's my take on them too. Plenty of other builders out there who actually manufacture their own frames, forks, wheels etc. I think the "show" is more about the family dynamics or lack there of.
Same with pretty much all the reality shows .. I enjoy alot of the car and bike restoration and build programs but they all eventually focus on the fake melodrama and personalities to supposedly keep the ratings up and the need to watch the next episode anticipation going .... and theres only so much different stuff u can film or do on a bike build ... same old stuff week in week out ... year after year I think I need a black t shirt , a few tattoos and wear my cap backwards and Im in ....
It would be good if they had shows that had more focus for us hard core types. There are plenty of talented people all over the world who can do amazing work, but probably doesn't add up for the bean counters. Here is another such person if you haven't seen it already https://www.tinmantech.com/ and Mr Grey, @GreyImport where are you. I need your help again please see Private Conversation
All I repeat all reality tagged TV shows are fully scripted, there are hundreds of support crew ppl working in the background.... they invest way to much money to allow John doe to go unscripted and uncontrolled ...
There are however some exceptional craftsmen in some of those shows. KindigIT Customs does some amazing custom work and I for 1 find it incredibly stimulating to watch these guys take a flat piece of sheet and turn it into a 10” wide wheel tub using an array of different machines, doing chassis mods and upgraded brakes etc. the same with Iron Resurrection which is Martin Bros. They seem to be showing more of the detailed work now and less of the BS and poor acting. If you do start getting around like that @GreyImport we will have to start calling you Big Chief ( as in Street Outlaws) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
