I have ruined, broken, destroyed, obliterated and lost so many nuts and bolts on my bike that I pretty much want to do a bolt screw whatever overhaul so these issues stop happening. How do you guys go about replacing bolts ect? When ever I go to a store like bunnings and try and match my item I can never find exactly what I am looking for.
go to a shop that only sell bolts, ask the guy to match the threads and go crazy. i wouldnt mind doing it as well, my bike came with some mismatched bolts and its just annoying using 3 different screwdrivers or sockets.
problem with matching is I am gonna need to take so many bolts off my bike to get them matched. Is it not documented anywhere exactly what they are? or is there some super duper hyper kit that includes carby bolts, pinch bolts, ect ect ect.
I go to Boltmasters. I'm pretty sure they have an outlet in Sydney. Very rare they can't match anything in mild steel, stainless, high carbon, machinery grade or whatever. I just got a full kit of stainless fairing bolts and plastic washers from them for instance. Much cheaper than somewhere like Bunnings. They also have high quality hose clamps etc.
these work a treat for CBR fairings and are cheap at $20 plus post http://thirdgear.com.au/fairing-bolt-hardware-kit/
The original screws on your bike will have been JIS , especially the carbs. http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/dimples.1068/
Other place I use if you don't mind spending a bit more money is Pro Bolt. They do flanged head stainless, alloy and titanium kits. Boltmasters often don't have flanged bolts for engine cases. They also do pre-drilled kits for the track etc.
This may help with the lengths. It's a kit for the CBR250RR. Pricey though. http://www.probolt-australia.com/va...l=1141&Type=8&Year=0&category=?&p=1&x=33&y=15
I did take a look through that list on a previous search, but its missing carb screws, fork screws, brake screws ect.
Just took a quick look at the CBR250 parts manual in the resources section Damus. Looks to me like most if not all of what you require concerning fastener dimensions is listed in the exploded parts diagrams.
