    I spoke to a carbon fibre vendor over a decade ago, when the carbon fibre shortage was in full swing because the Airbus and Boeing Superliners were going into production - he said the CSIRO was working on a manufacture process for carbon using sugar from sugar cane.

    Seems their perseverance has paid off

    I hope this production technology doesn't get exported because of a lack of investment to manufacture it here like happened with solar calls

    Sugar Cane Fibre doesn't have the same ring to it as Carbon Fibre does though
