Replacement rear wheel for CB250RS Honda.

I'm just thinking ahead here, is there any suitable rear wheel replacement for the CB250RS Honda? Is there anything else that can be done when the drum brake goes beyond it's serviceable limit? Has anyone got a rear wheel for sale?

replace the hub assuming you have a spoke wheel, or you can get the old hub re lined, they use to do old vintage bikes and cars a lot of years ago...or look around for a disk rear hub and mod to suit

 

As above - it should be possible to machine most of the old liner out and fit a new thin one. Not cheap though..
I'm seriously surprised that it's a problem, never heard of it before on a modern(ish) road bike.
If it's just a case of the lever past it's wear marks, new thicker linings will fix that.

 

I have a spare rear wheel but it might be damaged. I'll have a look in the shed!

Thanks Fred. I don't want to be diminishing your spares supply though mate! The rear drum on mine is within the limit, and I guess as long as I make sure the brake shoes don't wear down to the metal then it should be right for a long while. Cheers, Bob.

 

Hi Murdo, thanks for the tips. Interestingly enough building up the lobe has been done on my bike by some previous owner for a reason. I don't really have a problem with the brake, I was just thinking ahead. It seemed that with a worn drum you had limited number of things you could do, being that new rear wheels weren't thick on the ground. Cheers, Bob.

 

Thanks mate, I'll check it out. It would be great if you had heap of Honda wheels and you could compare sizes. You would think that some Honda models have interchangeable parts like wheels. It would be nice to know. Bob.

Thanks for the quick reply gregt, I was just thinking of a worse case scenario, the brakes on my bike are fine, but with older bike bits getting harder to get I was wondering what could be a replacement. Relacing a hub might be nice project if I get bored. Thanks again, Rob
