Friend of mine who lives down the Great Ocean Rd, was riding home at night after an evening work shift His headlight failed......on the Great Ocean Rd.... It didn't end well, trashed the bike and he ended up with a couple of stitches....well, guess he was lucky under the circumstances. This got me thinking, are there any standalone lighting systems that do not rely on the bikes battery or charging system?? I have looked at some cycling lighting but cyclists generally seem to agree that the beams are not very efficient. Anyone aware of anything that would suit a motorcycle? cheers
Only thing that comes to mind is a spotlight mounted on the bike, hooked up to a second battery separate of the bike's electrical system, with it's own circuit just for the aux light. A way to link the batt to the bikes charging system for charging only and not as a supply would be good too.

^ This With the LEDs available currently surely someone could make a decent torch with a suitable beam pattern that would not blind oncoming traffic? This is my question, I wonder if there is anything available?
