Hi - new member here with (nearly) enough parts to build a Suzuki Across. First couple (of many) questions - are the pillion footrest hangers welded to the frame, or bolt on? (I haven't got any on / with my bike, but need them for our annual UK test of road worthiness) I have a seat latch and cable - guessing there should be a seat lock too. If so - where does it attach to the frame? Ta Garry.
Hi Gary, the pillion pegs are secured onto hangars that are welded to the frame. Also the seat latch lock is bolted to a bracket that is also welded to the frame directly next to the fuel pump to the rear. That's the case with the two bikes I have anyway. Hope that helps.
Yes it does - thanks for the information It appears that someone has removed both footrest hangers and the seat lock bracket, albeit very neatly.
So the next question is................. where in the wiring loom is the connector for the oil pressure switch wire? The wiring diagram I have says I should be looking for a green & yellow wire. I have everything (electrical) connected and working now, except the oil pressure switch. Maybe the previous owner removed that too?
Yep, just checked my wiring, you should have a green/yellow wire (or plain black) which is located in the loom next to a plug with a single blue wire and a plug with two wires Brown and Black/Blue.
thanks again! I have one black wire (with a female bullet connector) with nothing connected to it - it is on the r/h side of the bike (as sat on it) about mid-way along the fuel tank. This is a switched 12v supply, so not for the oil pressure switch. I cannot locate this wire on the diagram. Is the oil pressure switch wire in your harness at the front of the bike, or aft of the motor?
problem solved it's the oil pressure switch that is faulty. I was thrown by the black wire that I have spare, which is right next to the 2 plugs you kindly identified, being a switched 12v supply. On the diagram, the oil pressure warning light receives it's 12v supply via a dark green wire, so I was looking for an earthed connection for the switch wire. However, when I disconnected the wire off the top of the switch and ran it to earth, the oil light came on. Back to Yahoo Japan to see if anyone is selling a switch..................... Thanks for your help.
All good. I had to chase the wires myself as my bikes in pieces, so im glad I was right with the correct wire. Good to hear you found the cause. Happy building
Switch is part# 37820-33D10 and appears to be used on many other models Have u pulled it off and cleaned it? https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1...rAhXrzDgGHeH7BzoQsAR6BAgKEAE&biw=1631&bih=617 https://www.mickhone.com.au/partFin...crankcase?search=oil+pressure#partid-45359140 https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=37820-33D10&ssPageName=GSTL&_sop=2&rt=nc&LH_PrefLoc=1
thanks for the info Grey Import - I haven't received my parts book from Japan yet so didn't know of suitable alternatives. I wiped it clean, but still no light. At least now I can look (a lot) closer to home for a replacement
