For those who live in north east victoria (or a weekend ride from Melbourne). A great ride is Wodonga to Mitta Mitta, then to Omeo on the Omeo highway (over 100km of very tight, twisty mountain roads with a good surface).
Then Omeo to Mount Hotham, down to Harrietville, across to Bright, then to Myrtleford, up to Yackandandah, then back to Wodonga.
I do it in a day with a stop at Mitta for a coffee, lunch at Omeo, and another coffee at Dinner plain.
You could also turn off before Bright and go to Mt Beauty over the tawonga gap, then back to Wodonga along the Kiewa valley highway.
Another quick ride i do is wodonga to tallangatta, then over the Granya gap, turn left on the murray river road and back to wodonga. About a 2 hour ride but granya gap is fun.
You could also turn right onto the murray river road and go to walwa, corryong and back to wodonga. Much longer ride though. The murray river road is fairly twisty with a few farmers and slower drivers to watch for.
These are some really good mountain roads.

Have done a similar loop from Tumbarumba - Murray River Rd - Tawonga Gap - Mount Hotham - Omeo - Mitta Mitta and back to Tumbarumba in a day... about 700k's and was on my ZXR250 as well

Yeah, quit bragging! Just joking. Sounds like you're in a great area for bike riding.

Been traveling (in a car) about some places, most of it long transits down highways from Qld to Vic and back, but found some different roads. We took a turn off just out of Narrabri to Delugra to head east. It was a bit bumpy, and droughted views, until we got to Kilkarney's Gap. The views were still droughted, but interesting country, and the road was still bumpy, but it was twisty with a climb - real fold-backs with super-sharp hairpins where we were doing 20-30kph. We did see water at a couple of places, and even green grass! But we continued on to Grafton, down the range from Glenn Innes. Well, it won't be much fun for the year as they put stifling speed limits on it as they continue the clean up after the fires. Would like to do it on a bike (a good bike with good front suspension, adjustable dampeners), but it's a long way. @Murdo has probably ridden it and written it up, if not someone else - sorry, haven't read it.

Now you can try the western road, too! Not as smooth, but still could be fun

Been through the Killarny's Gap road quite a few times. A good days ride from Tamworth, turn right at Narrabri across to Bingara and back home, about 350Km. Shame you didn't turn right between the bridges at Bingara and go to Inverell via Copton Dam road. Agree the Glen to Grafton road is usually a good run.
