hey, still fixing this bandit? I'm working on a 1991 model. Looking for a new set of carbies, fuel petcock and idle adjuster. Are you open to selling parts?
hey howyawn..... the 91 models are a more powerful version than my 92, so the chances of being able to mix and match a very slim. I suggest to look up moto recycle on the interweb and flick them an email if you haven't got what you need yet, They are a no bend you over and make you say please business, and have never steered me wrong. Ps, sorry for the late reply, No email have been sent to me.
long update: Instead of being up and off the for sale sign, here's something new. The bandit has been stripped for a complete do over (minus engine strip down, head gasket will be fixed though), nothing is going to be sold separately or parted out unless the part has been replaced beforehand. the frame and bodywork will be repainted along with anything else needed, parts and suspension upgraded as I go too. The catch? I want an across....... swap project for project style. No cash with or for a swap, just a simple here is mine in bits, thank you for yours. why? The bandit was an impulse buy and was never intended as a keeper, an across is. The two sv650's are a really bad permanent distraction and my beloved nc35 is wanting the most love of all. All these bikes are fighting for workspace and my family are starting to get a bit miffed that the bikes are taking up car space. more news and pics soon.......
overdue update: I did this.... The gsxr front end and shock aren't going in now, but the v model swing arm is still on to go in, maybe. And I finally found the right manual for my model, in Japanese of course. Around $250 aud to get it. ($191 in postage alone!). So once I have that in my hot little hands, I hope to have enough confidence to tackle the head gasket problem.
The service manual is $51 to buy and $190 for postage from Japan. There might be another fee on top of that because it's through a website that lets you buy stuff from Japanese websites.
Hmm, I think you were taken advantage of on that one.. at least on the postage.. I buy quite a lot from Japan Auction sites and even bringing in nearly 10kg of parts have I been charged that amount. Which site did you use?
Well as luck would have it, I haven't bought it yet (the missus said no). Croober seems to be the middle man/site, so I might keep looking around or stick to waiting on the buyabee site.
You are better off using Zenmarket or Jauce, Buyee has slightly higher fees. If the Service Manual is on Japanese Yahoo Auctions.. it will be on these sites.. from my perspective and experience Zenmarket have the cheapest fee's, other than that they are all pretty much the same. You get charges sales tax (8%) and internal freight in Japan but actual postage to Australia shouldnt be more than $30 I would think.
Try jauce.com Their postage isn't cheap, but it will be cheaper than that other site you mentioned. https://www.jauce.com/auction/q89673555 https://www.jauce.com/auction/q267517832
Based on Zenmarket listing it should cost about $110 delivered.. (8600 Yen) made up of Y5500 for the manual, Y300 fee, Y800 internal shipping and Y2000 for Postage and packing to Australia. That was based on the weight being 500 Grams. Jauce would be similar I think.. I used Jauce before but find Zenmarket Y300 set fee regardless of the price to be an advantage over Jauce.. they also have Sniper bids which at least keeps you under the radar until 5 minutes before the end of the Auction. You will find the Yahoo Japan Auctions frustrating, if there are more than 1 bid they will add 10 minutes to the end time.. and if more bids come in they will extend it again.. but if it is something like this that you feel you need.. there are not many other options. https://zenmarket.jp/auction.aspx?itemCode=q89673555
Yep.. the exact same item that is on all the external buying sites.. It is actually listed on Yahoo auctions Japan and these companies.. Zenmarket, Jauce etc bid on your behalf.. People outside of Japan are not allowed to bid on Yahoo Auctions. That is why it is best to shop around to see who has the best rates, lowest fees etc.
Pretty sure that's a 45HP Bandit. They sport the same GJ73A engine as the GSX250R. The 20K rpm tacho's were all 45HP from my understanding? The 18K rpm taco's were 40HP. I had a 1990 model identical to yours. Head gasket gone at only 45K's ? That's pretty low K's for a gasket to go.
