Hi there, A friend of mine whom has just obtained his licence has bought a hunter spyder. Alas the power to weight ratio is a little wanting. Does anybody know of any performance upgrades for the 250cc spyder that are effective. He has fitted a pair of louder pipes: however, I am wondering if these drop the mid range performance. Regards Chip
Hi Baldy, We don't do any out of the box performance upgrades, however I can tell you some things others have done. As with any bike, the first thing is to get it breathing properly. Straight through pipes aren't really the go, better off sticking some power cones in there. Is it a carby 250? If so rejet to suit. The next simple one is to change the rear srpocket, Hunter do a 30 tooth that works well. Also Blue lightning Spark Plugs have proven to give extra Hp. The other thing people have experimented with is turbo charging. One customer did it successfully, however he kept starting it up and doing burnouts then shutting it down, and blew his motor. Another one that I've heard of is an electric turbo. It is basically a fan that forces air into the intake. They modded it from one that is available for scooters. Again, rejet to suit. Cheers Ben
Hey Ben, What are power cones? Will the fuel injected model need rejetting as it looks like a fuel injected carby? Cheers Tim
