GSXR1100 L model 1990 fitted with a 1216 big bore and Mikuni RS 38's. Loads of other stuff done to suspension and brakes. All work is done by me except boring cylinders. A proper hooligan that still cuts the mustard and will do zero to **** ya pants whenever you want.
A little update, I took a chance on a gas flowed head, studied the photos and got more photos from the seller to see that it was indeed a gas flowed head and compared to my old knackered flowed head. All the work done is exactly the same except this head was not used with high lift cams and heavy duty valve springs which was the cause of my old cylinder heads demise. I got it and measured everything and it is in very good condition. It was very cheap too at £162 delivered. It's going on in a couple of weeks.
I had the 750 version in my late teens. It was full throttle or nothing absolutely everywhere. I wish I had splurged more for the 1100 as the 750 didn't frighten me. Was a nice handling and forgiving bike all the same. Have you had yours dynoed? 160hp?
I have fitted the gas flowed head now and been running it about making sure all is good and no leaks. Hope to have it on the Dyno in a couple of weeks time to check setup and get the torque and bhp figures. Hoping to see 100ftlbs of torque of there abouts and 150+ BHP
Bit of an update and a glutton for punishment, Heavy duty valve springs in and just waiting for high lift cams to arrive that have been made to complement the gas-flowed head and 1216 bore. Since last post here back in our summer of 2022 the bike has been ridden and thrashed just about everywhere. It was going to go on the dyno but that has been delayed due to the extra stuff going into the engine which I hope to have completed next weekend, then get it booked in at the dyno for final setup and the all important power figures. I like this photo of the bike best with the sleep guarding and farting dog from last summer.
The new high lift cams are in, they took forever and a day to arrive. Booked in for the dyno on the 26th or April. Will post up figures and print outs asap after the dyno run.
The bike is making 152.2 bhp at the back wheel with 90ftlbs of torque. Dyno video is too large to upload.
