I picked up a cheap Italian HM Baja 50 (15/12) the other day, minus the air cooled Franco Morini engine (and a couple of other bit's) My 9 yo son has a China KTM50SX Pro Senior copy, he has grown a bit since he's last ridden it and the KTM is a bit small for him, i thought i could swap the engine etc over into this while i get his next bike ready (PW80, and 1995 KX60) The seat height on this HM 50 Baja is about 100mm higher than the Ktm copy. I am in the process of prepping the frame to convert it to liquid cooled, had to cut a support spar so i can fit the radiator there and i've gusseted the spar up to the oe head stem gusset to maintain the strength. The fender's have both been broken at some stage, so i have modified a TTR style pit bike rear fender to fix the rear for the time being and i've modified and fitted the matching TTR front fender as well Both rim's had surface rust, so yesterday i cleaned up the rear using Rust Off and some 0000 steel wool, it came up pretty good. The rear tyre was on it's last legs and was missing a tube so i swapped on a used pit bike 12" tyre with about 50% tread and a good tube Front tyre (Vee Rubber) still has plenty of tread which is good as i don't know where to buy 15" MX front tyre's from I made up a new side stand for it this morning to make working on it a bit easier Does anyone know where i can get part's for this bike in Australia ? I need a couple of thing's like a sticker kit, rear brake caliper (cable operated) and maybe a few other bit's The chinese KTM copy when i first got it And as it is now, also has Pro Taper KTM bar's too now
Has anyone else had one of these, or know anyone that could have part's ? I think a few bit's off the US Cobra 50's fit and same with the LEM 50 AND Huskyboy 50 Just had a go cleaning the front wheel, it was in worse condition to the rear. Sprayed some Rust Off onto it and let it sit for 5 min's, then gave it a scrub with some 0000 steel wool and pressure cleaned it off. This is how it look's so far Some of the bad rust spot's, will need a second going over
