Yes, it's not a 250 but I'm on a site where there's a lot of expertise so some one may have a link to a manual. I've read Ruckusman's thread but I suspect that there are things like the order in which the cam tunnel bolts are released, which I need to know before starting. So has anyone done shim replacements on this engine. The "X" is the 2018 cafe style one and the engine is common to the other late model SV versions.

THANK YOU. I went into RESOURCES but didn't go far enough earlier to find this. Wonderful. Now all I need to know is how to release that Quick hose connector on the fuel tank. There's obviously an easy way to do it. Will put a pic up as soon as I read the INSERT PIC instructions. Presume there's a sticky somewhere telling me what to do
Confession time. I am a dork. Bought this bike with 6300kms on it. Now 10000 so I thought that it was time to check the clearances and if good (or fixed them) I could leave for a long time before having to check again. Because I didn't get the service record book with it, I just rang TM now, and asked if I could get details of previous service and asked when the clearances should be checked. Workshop said 24000kms. So having stripped off all the gear, it seems all unnecessary. However I will check the clearances. In the next 14000kms I'll swot the shim replacement instructions up and learn how not to get the Timing OUT. Still yet to figure out how to release that fuel line. I just look over at the Guzzi V7 and know even more why I bought it and keep it. I still have a BR250 (Kawasaki) workshop manual that you might want. Where do I get it to?
Murdo, is this the clip that you're talking about? So you mean -squeeze the little green tabs together
On that style of connector, as pictured, the green tangs (top and bottom) pull out to raise the locking clip. Give the connector a push in towards the metal pipe, twist, then pull and twist in the other direction. A bit of rubber grease on the o-ring will help get it back on smoothly. Tried to look up specs/manuals for the SV650X but Autodata doesn't have anything for it, only service schedules. For the older models, 0.10-0.20mm inlet and 0.20-0.30mm exhaust
Tks for that 250 Resources has a workshop manual for the X and the clearances are the same as earlier ones. At 10k kms the exhausts are all at 8 thou (.2mm) which is bottom of range but l'll wait until 20k because I don't think they will now close up anymore. My mate came over and freed the connector but he said he pushed those little green tabs together. I'll check with him.
