Hello from the sunny gold coast. I'm a Yamaha fanatic and when i bought my last bike (2016 r1) my mother said to me, thats enough bikes son! no more ok. I crossed my fingers behind my back and said ok mom, thats enough. Little did she know i bought a matching number 83 rz250 frame and engine cases the same day. I have been building a hot rz350 engine to put into the rz250 frame i bought to build a track/race bike. I keep looking at the frame and thinking about supension, wheel, tire upgrades to make the best use of the power. Then i read a thread on here about a rz350 race bike that reached it's tire/suspension limit so the engine was put into a fzr400 frame. In that thread the author said he was 2 seconds faster with this set up over the same engine in the rz. That got me thinking. So i crossed my fingers again and bought a fzr400 3jt. Cosmetically challenged but mechanically it's in pretty decent shape. I've replaced the fork springs with stiffer rate r6 units(2000 model) and changed to 20w oil. front end feels pretty decent. I slotted the stator pick up to add 5 degree advance. i've put some k's on it and i'm impressed with it's overall performance. so now i don't know if i'll put the rz engine in that? i think rz350 engine into a tzr itk package may be the answer? i own a 1kt and it's a very decent performer, i would like to leave it as is. so maybe i need to cross my fingers for another 1kt fame. Anyway i've rambled on long enough, this is a 250 forum so i'll post some pics of the 2 yamaha 250's i have. 87 tzr250 1kt, 88 rz250r. f&*%en photobucket i'll try to upload picture later
Just seen you posted on that thread, it seems to be a conversion people like There's a few conversion's on the net
What about the RZ donk into an FZR250 frame - I recall seeing the RZ donk into FZR400 frame looked to have ample space and potential for the 250 frame
