I've had a leaky tap for a while, only noticable when you turn it though so I leave it on all the time. I was quoted 170ish for a new one so I havent. It has the filter attached which i want to clean But i dont want to take iT out aS ill have to replace the seals which suzuki say they Only sell as a set, including the tap.
170 is too expensive for a rubber band.
    anyone had a similar problem/solutions?

I'm not sure what type of tap the GSX uses however you may be able to find a tap repair kit on Ebay that contains the appropriate seals for the tap and only cost around 10-30 dollars. It may not be the exact one but an example is linked below.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fuel-Tap-Repair-kit-for-SUZUKI-GSX-GS-GSX250-1980-85-GS550-1980-85-/300959741273?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item4612993559

$170 dollars is to be expected for the part. The older the bike gets the more the "tax" goes up.

You may be able to fashion your own O-ring for the tap out of suitable material. However if you can't find a replacement kit or are unable to make an O-ring you really should buy a new tap.

If the tap gets any worse while you're riding and starts to leak fuel well.... you don't want to be around when it drips/runs onto the burning hot engine parts or exhaust.

    Good luck with the bike!

If it was me I would pull it out and apart ..... if someone has messed with it before it may just need a clean and the seals seated correctly.
If they are stuffed then as Doug mentioned its not a good thing having leaking fuel and something needs to be done anyway.

More than likely the same tap would be used in other Suzuki machinery but sadly nothing much comes up using the part number

    44300-24D10 FuelCOCK ASSY, FUEL

Why the o ring isnt available seperately is just plain ridiculous.

take the 2 o-rings to any auto parts supplier and they should match or measure and post the measurements as i have an o-ring kit better than most garages and should be able to match.
