Hey guys, I recently purchased a bike off of one of the members here, it has - MC22 Engine MC19 cams, rotor, pickups & ignition I have some questions regarding the maintenance, do I just use the MC22 spec oil and filter + air filter + fuel filter and lines when working on the bike or do some things stay MC19 spec? Thanks for any help
What is the frame? MC19 or MC22? Use the chassis as a basis. If the motor is definitely an MC22, then use MC22 parts/specs except where things have been changed. Most of that list is electrical so when checking those components, use MC19 information.
Frame is 1988 CBR250r with a MC22 motor installed with MC19 cams among the other stuff I listed. So should I be using MC22 spec stuff for everything? I think I read about some differences between the fuel filters between the 2 but there's not really any information I could find about MC22s sitting in a single R frame.
Welcome. They are both MC-14 engines, so what things being different are you worried about? Are you running 19 or 22 carbs (19's used a fuel pump) and which airbox?
I'm waiting for the previous owner to send me the full details of the bike atm but I believe apart from the parts I listed, the bike has MC19 parts.
As Murdo indicated, there is very little difference between the MC19 and MC22 engines. From a maintenance perspective, I would just use the MC22 stuff. If you download the CBR250 service manual it has information for all variants. Cheers Peter.
