I got this bike from a friend last Tuesday night. It's a 2007 Yamaha FZ6N (not LAMS). I paid $1500 for it. It's been sitting in a shed for the last two years, and now I am going to get it running again. This is my first proper project bike. List of things that need to be replaced : . Battery (didn't come with one) . Tires . Fork seals . All fluids . Potentially the fuel tank and pump (both need a good clean as there looks to be some surface rust in the tank) . Chain and sprockets After only owning 250cc motorbikes, I'm excited to see just how user friendly a 98hp sports touring bike really is
Looks like a nice bike. If the tank has gone rusty it will definitely need a fuel pump. If the tank is still nice on the outside it may be worth cleaning and changing the fuel pump, otherwise a complete tank/pump assembly will be expensive if bought new. We have an 06 R6 here at work that has been in storage, the tank and pump are shot, new pump assembly from Yamaha is $1300. Repair kits are much much cheaper but it requires pump disassembly and cleaning. A lot of elbow grease and care required particularly with the filter mesh.
Had my FZ6N in this shed at my Nan's place to keep it out of the weather. If I had more time, I would've tried to pull it out and to safety. It was Infront of my Nan's car.
Luckily my nan is safe in Sydney with relatives. Her shed is clearly gone, but her house wasn't affected. Me and my family are safe at an evacuation centre. My place escaped unharmed too, but we don't know what will survive tomorrow. At least I've still got my ZZR 250
I’m so sorry to hear , the more these fires go on, the more angrier I get. Glad to hear your nanas house is safe
I didn't realise you had been evacuated, finger's crossed your place is ok too. My old neighbour moved up into the Adelaide hill's a couple of year's ago, he stayed at home to fight any fire's that got close and to look after his property from thieve's etc, his 2x neighbour's house's either side burnt to the ground and his house was left standing
