Well as some had read my new to me rg 250 mk III had blown up. After looking into it , it was not oiling proper the barrel the cable pulls in the oil pump arm went missing. only allowing idle level of oiling.after a tear down of the engine found #1rod let go .Lots of damage and hard to find parts here. I recently after a long wait on shipping received a complete engine. This is good because the engine came with a good piece of another bike. Received a complete bike as spares less the fork legs , clip ons, gauges ,pipes and plastic. All of this may lead into a YammaGamma build later, who knows. The other totally awesome part of this complete engine with all the spares, It came with a spare motorcycle! Thats right another 1987 Rg250 Gamma mkIII, complete and running. All of this cost barely more than what I figured the rebuild of my old engine would cost. The plastic is rough, looks like it has seen some track time, but all still there, and original plastic. The only downside , we had snow already , none that stayed, but not much longer without. That means I have to look at it till about May to really enjoy it. At least I had a chance to take a test ride or two.
Sounds like a good buy all round! And at least if u have to sit out a long white winter you have plenty of bikes and bits to tinker with . Hope your garage is heated
No heat in the garage, I have a big propane heater i could use if I cant sneak a bike past my wife into the basement.
I am hoping to get her on one of the Gammas next spring. She wanted to get a motorcycle , I think it will be a good fit size wise.
