    G'day, everyone!

I joined 2Fiftycc.com in 2013 and embarrassingly, this is only my second post in all that time after being inspired yesterday (thanks garry55!) to make my first post earlier today.

I have really enjoyed my time browsing the threads on and off over the last 7 years, especially for the Suzuki twins and fours which I grew up with in the '80s. Modern bikes are just a turn off for me - I think most of the modern styling trends are hideous.

I had always had Suzukis (until the TRX & 1125R) and still have the two week old RG250WE I bought second hand in 1985. Then an RGV250 followed, but this got stolen from my garage in '95 - they did not touch the RG!! Then, regrettably, spent time on cars and in the last 10 years or so have accumulated some bikes which have turned into projects.

This year, for the wrong reasons, maybe, I have had more time at home, and some good weather on and off, to be able to spend time getting my bikes running again. I have got a TRX850 for day to day riding, and have this morning got my Across MOT & taxed (to be road legal in the UK) for the first time in 10 years:

We both got very wet this afternoon, though - the UK weather!!

I am also working now on my second RGV, which I bought in 2007.....

Assuming I can get the RGV running, not sure which one to do next!

I may abandon this, though, (temporarily) if Suzuki could get their act together and bring out a real competitor to the ZX25R.

A big thank you to the forum admins and other members who contribute on here which make this such a great place to explore.

    Welcome!
Is that a Stag in the background?

Yes, it is! Another project. I am a big fan of V8s, and grew up with Triumph 2000 & 2500's, and so a Stag was the dream car to have (but a nightmare to fix).

Are you swapping the engine for a Rover V8? That seems the "route of least resistance"!

I have a little experience with Triumphs. I have previously had fun working on the fuel injected 6 cylinder engines and more recently have rebuilt a Stag engine for a friend.
Working on motorcycle engines seems to be more challenging.

No - it is Triumph 3 litre V8 all the way!! They can be made very reliable these days if you know what you are doing (I don't).
I already have a Rover V8 (sort of, but borrowed from elsewhere) in my ZT260...

I have always preferred bikes to work on as chassis and engine are so much easier as a package. Very interested to hear you rebuilt a Stag engine recently - any problems with the heads?
I know there are quite a few Stags in Australia, and of course the 6s in the TR6, Vitesse, 2500 & GT6. Great cars - I have very fond memories of them from my teens as my dad had a 2000Mk1, 2000Mk2 & finally a 2500TC but they all rusted away (from the salting of the roads in winter).

No problems with heads. These had been previously attended to by my friend who set it up to run on LPG. Unfortunately he accidentally ran it dry of oil and it seized. He then parked it for several years before I got the job of getting it going again. Worst part of the whole exercise was putting the engine back in. The exhaust manifold connections are ridiculously tight and starter is almost impossible to get at without removing the exhaust. Its all going well now though. Anyway, enough of the diversion. This is a bike forum.
