Hello, My fuel tap has a leak from the "L" shaped metel connecto that goes from the fuel thanks main supply to the fuel tap. It is very loosely connected (the "L" into the tap) and is causing a leak is there an o ring for it? How would I fix this ?. Thanks Adam Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk
As far as I know theres nothing else that holds them in place or seals them except a tight fit Also as far as I know its supposed to 'swivel' I guess if its loose then something fuel resistant will be needed to "glue' it in permanetly I would also pull it apart and check the inside seals https://www.litetek.co/Fuel_Tank_O-Rings_Yamaha.html

The damage is from where the screw was sitting on it. Just a small indent. The leak is from where the "L" goes into the tap. Probably loose after being pushed by the screw cause the "L" not to sit inside the tap properly Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk
Track where the rubber tube from that 90-degree joiner goes. I think you will find it goes to a carburetor inlet boot. It uses the lower pressure produced by the engine to open the tap while running. The only way fuel could get to that point is if the diaphragm is damaged between the tank and the fuel and reserve lines. I have no idea as to the arrangement on your bike as I have never had one of those but surely somebody else can possibly explain it better than me
FZR 250 fuel taps are not vacuum operated. There are two outlets from the tank with two different height strainers (on and reserve). Both feed to the fuel tap. The tap then feeds to the fuel pump and fuel pump to carbs. The pump is there because the low point in the tank is lower down the car bowls so gravity feed won't work.
Ok. But I don't see how that unsealed right-hand connector (those types of connectors are only good-fit sealed, not adequate for fuel delivery and downright dangerous) be a fuel line and if the pet-cock is not vacuum operated what is the diaphragm for?
You will most likely find the connector is normally sealed... the o-ring is probably still inside the petcock and pretty much shagged and probably not repairable in the normal sense. What is listed as a diapragm isnt a diaphragm as such.. it is a gasket that has raised edges around each of the appertures and depending on where the lefer is turned allows fuel to flow from normal, reserve or OFF. They are in all Petcocks... if it was vacuum controlled (like the SRX) there is a seperate diapragm at the back which does control fuel flow based on vacuum... These systems (vacuum controlled) have a "Prime" position on the lever to bypass the vacuum setting so you can start the bike.
Then I would glue the sucker in with a fuel resistant epoxy and then trim that bolt down so it didn’t go anywhere near the elbow. Need to change that seal plate inside though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Good to know it's metal on metal. I used a tapered punch to winden the "L" a slight bit and now fits snugly into the fuel tap again. My seal inside the tap its self is fine(pretty sure anyway no leak from there). Will test it to make sure there is no more leaks through the "L" connector Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk
