finally getting down to the nuts and bolts of this project and i need a set of headlight bulbs. my Honda dealer don't sell any, and the ones i can find cost an arm each. I'm interested about LED options that might give a bit more brightness and a much longer lifetime. Though at this point i just need headlights that won't fry the wiring so i can tick another box off on the roadworthy. any help is appreciated!
It has been a while but I think from memory I used a normal H4 bulb and just cut off the one tab that was in a different position.
I've heard a few things about higher wattage bulbs burning out the switchgear and draining the electricals. so any recommendations for a H4 bulb to get and modify?
Just the normal 45/45 watt ones. Go to car place (supertheif, autobarn, ripco, etc) and see what they have.
45 watt is the standard size. A lot of early Toyotas had the 45 watt bulbs, most people upgraded them to 55/60 and then had problems.
haven't got them in yet, had to order some online. i'll be sure to let you know how they go once they get here.
finally got the bulbs, put them in the bike, made the mistake of cutting the tabs on the first bulb but it's not the end of the world. went and bent the same tabs on the other headlight and that went much better. got them both fitted nicely and decently adjusted though and they work great! still gonna keep an eye on the wiring but so far so good.
