Hi I have just purchased a Suzuki GSX 250 Across! I can't wait for it to arrive this week (it's in transit). This forum has been a valuable tool in researching this bike. I am sure I will be using it a lot during my ownership of my new toy.
Welcome Tint, looking forward to seeing some pics of your Across, they are a great bike and a lot of fun to ride. Chris
Thanks Kiffsta and Greyimport. I will defiantly be putting pictures up when I get the bike on Thursday. Btw my name was suppose to be Tomt but my iPad autocorrected so now I am Tint lol.
Welcome to the forum, you have purchased a great bike. I am a big fan of the Across as are many, they do everything well and generally don't give to many problems. Looking forward to some pictures of your new ride.
Thanks Kiffsta for fixing that. Phil I do believe I did get a good bike. I spent months going over forums like this finding out all the good and bad things about certain bikes in my budget range. The Across kept comming out in top. Part of the fun in owning an older bike is working on it! I have put up some pics of the bike from the origonal bikesales add and one with it on the trailer ready to be transported up to me!
Hey Tomt. That looks nice, thanks for posting some pictures. Look forward to hearing about your Across once you have had the chance to ride a little, don't think you will be disappointed.
That looks in very good shape and well kept. looks like the previous owner kept his bike like he kept his gardens
Yes the previous owner did keep the bike well maintained. He obviously knew about the bike and the known issues they have (that's why it pays to do research). I too love the colour! Only 2 more days until it's here.
Wish I could say it is here. The bike came from Sydney to be delivered to the Mid North Coast (half way between Sydney and Brisbane). It is now in Brisbane waiting for the driver to bring it down (who is somewhere between Townsville and Brisbane). It should be here by Saturday. The worst thing is rego expired last week and the paperwork is with the bike. So I will have to just look at it for 2 days before I can ride it.
The truck that took it up went the New England. I think I will do the online rego thing. I have done the transfer. Tomorrow I will get the greenslip and renew the rego. So then I can ride it on Saturday!
Hey Tomt, welcome to the forum and a fellow across rider. You've got yourself a fantastic little bike, and it look's great. Fuel minimum 95 Premium and you'll get around 180kms or just over to the tank. A little trick, keep a small gerry can in the boot - the extra few litres will come in handy especially on a long ride
Thanks Darren for the reply. Yes fuel range is the from what I hear the main drawback of this bike. Risky the frieght from Sydney to Nambucca (via Brisbane) was $310. I did it to save myself from the stress of driving through Sydney towing a trailer. But 9 days to get here is more stressful! Now the driver tells me it will be here by Midnight (i'll beleive it when I see it).
Finally arrived last night took her for a quick ride this morning I am impressed how she goes (especially when I don't forget to turn on the fuel tap doh). Only issue is a starting problem when the bike is warm. The starter won't engage and I have to clutch it to get it going. I will start another thread on this somewhere else. http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/across-warm-starting-issues.1935/
