Have a 2013 hunter bobber and wanted to go for a ride this weekend but the rear brake wasn't there. Have bled the system 4 times now 3 different ways and can't seem to get them to work. Pulled the reservoir apart and checked the rubbers which seem to look good. After bleeding I push the peddle and it spits back. If anyone has any suggestions they would be much appreciated.
take caliper pads out and pump rear brake pedal. if piston moves out the piston is not frozen.check pad depth to see if need replacing. if piston frozen then caliper off bike and remove piston dust cover.spray wd-40 around piston and allow to soak. if hydraulic pressure will not release it then use compresses air in hydraulic fluid entrance to caliper. if that does not work mechanical force may be needed.
Cheers. The compressed air got them out then relubed them. Will rebleed this morning and should be ace.
ok, was the piston rusted or scored? rub with 1200 or 1500 wet and dry paper with detergent in water to smooth the surface. rinse in metho and dry.lube the seal with brake fluid and push in gently. once in before dust seal goes back on use some rubber grease to waterproof. dust seal on, pads back in, bolt to caliper bracket and bleed. use new brake fluid as old fluid absorbs moisture from air. once bled test gently. all well then happy riding.
Thanks for all your help. I ended up getting it pressure bled and he said the nipple was to high so it was trapping air. All good now. Done 300km for the weekend so far n loving it.
