As you can see by the picture part of left foot peg bracket is broken off and missing. This must have happend sometime in the past when the bike was most likely dropped. I am concerned that the rest may break off but for 3 months now it has held on. I rang a wrecker the other day to try and get a replacement and all the bikes he had were the same. My question is is this common on the Across? Also can aftermarket rear sets be fitted which my be stronger then the original item. Thanks in advance Tomt Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The Across was largely ignored for after market parts, Im not aware of any rear sets available thnaks Chris
Good question Tomt Certainly has seen better days, being alloy it is strong to a point, everything has a breaking point. When you think about it, 150kg's coming down, something has to give. My concern is more with what I can't see, where the foot peg attaches to the casing, has that broken or is it bent? Recently I fitted some tyga rear sets to Chris's cbr250, they looked to be very sturdy, however I could not tell you if they would withstand any better than the original. Have you been able to source any foot pegs yet, keep me posted.
Thanks for that Chris. Thats what I thought to. Do you know of any undamaged ones for sale? Also am I at risk of the whole thing breaking off? Tomt Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It looks like more the 'guard' part has snapped off I would pull it off and look for any more damage or cracks on the main part of the supporting area
check the main body and if no cracks a tig welder could weld a heelguard on from sheet alloy. that may cost more than a 2nd hand one.kiffsta has an alladins cave.lol.
Try findapart.com.au mate - always my first stop for seeing what wreckers have. They'll contact you if they have something from around oz. Good luck
New foot peg arrived today (thanks kiffsta) 10 minutes work and she is on! It feels different changing gears with a straight shifter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
What is leaking down on to your swingarm , peg mount and chain? Your chain looks loose also looking at your 2 pics.
Was fuel from a leaking fuel tap. Thats been fixed now! The old girl needs a bath! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ahh right! I would check the chain though and if its had fuel on it , it will need a lube .... loose chain will wear your sprockets out real fast.
Yes I will adjust the tension on the chain. I keep lubed up fairly well. I think most of what is on the swingarm was from when the tank was drained and its what splashed down. Its going in next week for new tyres. So I will make sure the chain is properly tensioned then. Thanks for your advice Tomt Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Get them to check the valve stems and replace them if they arnt fairly new .... only a few dollars each. http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/replace-your-valve-stems.1999/ cheers mate
Hey Tomt Glad your parts arrived OK, Chris asked me to wrap yours and send it for him. As for new tyres think Grey is on the money fitting new valve stems while your at it. If you can find 90 degree ones even better, so much easier.
