Can anyone recommend a good general/basic motorcycle maintenance guide for the newbie here? I have the service manual for my bike, but sometimes there's an assumed level of knowledge required...
If you can find a Haynes, Clymer or Gregory's for your bike they often have more beginner-friendly steps. I know the Clymer I have for the KLR650 and the Haynes one for the CB250RS are fairly helpful that way. Hope this helps - I'll see what else I can find.
Try http://www.amazon.com/Motorcycle-Basics-Techbook-Haynes-Manuals/dp/185960515X and http://www.amazon.com/Zen-Art-Motorcycle-Maintenance-Inquiry/dp/0060589469 The second one is philosophical fiction but is a damn good read!
Cheers Fred I couldn't find a Haynes or similar for my bike yet but saw those ones, that and the general maintenance one might be the go... Am actually reading zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance although it doesn't really have a lot of practical advice but I am enjoying it!
Have a peek at this one also ..... I havnt actually studied it myself so it may be technical in nature but may be useful. http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?resources/honda-common-service-manual.118/

hey all...after a workshop manual for my 92 gsx250ssm katana (GJ76A) needed for general maintenence, wiring diagrams etc...guessing there could be another manual for the suzuki inline 4 which could have same wiring etc...have no issue paying for premium member to download manual but it must be the right one...cheers ...and also if anyone has a spare speedo they want to sell
Just about everything available for most 250s is in the resources 250 Katana stuff seems to be non existent ... the larger ones moreso Grasshopper has a 750 Katana so we have the manuals etc ... I messaged u a link to it all, which may help
You probably already have it but parts book https://en.impex-jp.com/catalogs/moto/suzuki/9900b-68034.html and you may be able to buy a hardcopy from the Japanese auction sites. Boom! https://www.jauce.com/auction/c739777093 Loads of them https://www.jauce.com/search/SUZUKI+GSX250S+KATANA+Service+Manual
Whilst not the GSF250 version - which seems to only be available in Japanese. I was able to download an english version of the GSF400 Service Manual from https://www.manualslib.com/brand/suzuki/motorcycle.html. (just now in fact) At least it can give a good idea of things as the 2 bikes are quite similar. As usual lots of photos and diagrams. Better than nothing and easier in that you don't need to try and translate. I think using it, coupled with the resources already available on the site, should see mechanical repairs able to be done easier. So far, looking through the manual - it looks really good Lots of other motorcycle service and owners manuals available for free download off the site as well
You can compare it to the one on my page https://litetek.co/Carb_Kit_Suzuki_GSF400.html Could be better, could be worse. In any case having the 400 one will make it easier to translate the 250 one, which you should do if you plan to keep it.
Whilst there aren't too many CF Moto V5's around.. (I know Murdo has one and my youngest son bought his spare V5 to fix up) I found a full service manual here.. Free Download. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1048222/Cfmoto-Cf250t-5.html#product-CF250T-5
