    Hey!

I'm new here, I fell in love with this bike but I have no idea what make it is. I can see it's a 250cc and would love to get the make and model. Anyone have any idea what bike this is and possible year?

Sorry if this isn't the section to post this but it looked like the best place.

Thanks in advance! Picture posted below

I see that it's a trail bike would that be considered not street legal?

    Welcome Andrew.
Yamaha TY250 from maybe '77 or'78. Was a road registerable model back then, so should still be able to now. Top speed is limited (maybe do 40mph) so would be no good on your freeways.

Could be a DT 250 these were the road version of the Ty back in the uk late 79's early 80's the only TY I was aware of that was road worthy was the TY 50 a restricted moped

The TY is a trials bike not a trail bike. In trials, like Kiffsta's video, the rider has to negotiate a difficult path. A trial, if you will. Each time the rider puts a foot down he loses a point or something like that. It is endless fun. I was working at a Yamaha dealership when they were first released and I love those bikes.

We used to go down to the woods at the weekend as kids to watch the trials. Lots of yamaha a and Bultacos those goes could get their bikes over some pretty amazing obstacles each time a rider put his foot down a guy would raise a flag to indicate a penalty - good fun to watch

Yeah that's them Paul, the Sherpa T. My brother had one of those for a while and ended up with an Alpina.
