OK so 1st problem found bike 3ln-1 250r finally got to start (carbs checked fresh fuel sparkplugs changed new battery ) runs OK in neutral so warmed it up checked for leaks flushed oil out water changed now put it up on paddock stands and selected gear difficult to get in then as I release the clutch loud banging from the engine anybody come across this before I think it might be the gearbox but cud it be something I'm missing
the transmissions are noisy on the fizzer - described to me as the rattling of a bag of spanners, which was accurate, that isn't however banging - what you describe doesn't sound healthy, only a video of the noise will let us know for sure peace out
ok that did upload the clunking putting in gear i remember not sure you can hear the banging it is in the last 3rd of the video
Could be a gearbox bearing. Try listening with a 'mechanics stethoscope' (a large screwdriver touched on the cases and held against your ear) to see which area the noise is coming from.
I can't really make out what is gong on through your little mic, but have the following. comment: I've found pretty much anything running in gear on a paddock stand makes a noise that you don't hear on the road. Particularly bad was a shaft drive BMW R1100 that I was the custodian of for a short while. On the center stand in gear at idle sounded like a diesel cement mixer with a few bricks in it. The lower the gear the greater the effect, you get all sorts of weird harmonics and clattering because there is no load. If you look while this is happening you'll probably see the chain flapping up and down and the rear wheel jerking round. A much higher gear reduces the effect. I'd suggest running it around on the road or dragging some back brake whilst on the stand to see if the noise goes away / changes before you look too much further.
thanks for your imput guys i pulled the clutch cover off and re adjusted the centre rod and the noise seems to have gone for now but like all things gear selection is now playing up so its back to head scratching while i wait for me carb jets to arrive
got them off fleabay for the main jets but there 8mm slot head not the 6mm ones and A-BAX PRECISION ENGINEERING for the pilots
