Hi Everyone, About time I introduce myself on here, my name is Ben and I'm from SA. I've had my L's for just about 6 months, and I've already gone through two bikes. The first bike I had was a completely standard Yamaha Zeal. It was a great bike to learn on as it was so easy to ride, but I wanted to change to something a little more nippy and tinker-friendly.. So I came across my new bike, a 1989 Kawasaki ZXR250a. It's a little rocket! Somewhat a little rough around the edges, but fun nonetheless. I also got a bunch of spare parts, so hopefully i'll be alright if something goes wrong. I know very little about the bike's past, and the only real information I have is that it was made by Kustom King Garage in NSW. I'm attempting to see if I can find anything out about it, but i think it'll be tough going. Thanks!
Welcome to the forum, nice looking bike.....I like the colour scheme, a little different from the norm. ZXR 250 A are a good bike, they perform well and with some proper maintenance generally don't give too much trouble.
cool looking bike. what info do you need specifically? If its mods I wouldnt bother, the bike tuned properly is arguably one of the best racing lams bike there is. If I owned one I would just put some bridge stone bt-090's 110/150 on it. Get the fork oil done with some 15W and new seals, balance & clean the carbs and put sintered break pads and go for gold.
Thanks mate! Good to know about the tyres, it's got some Pirelli sport demons on it at the moment that seem pretty good.. The rear is starting to get a bit old though! And I'll add the other things to my list The main thing that I want to know, is when I registered the bike it's obviously a zxr250a, however the engine number starts with zxr250c? Maybe I read it wrong.. Unless it's got a newer model engine in it?
"The main thing that I want to know, is when I registered the bike it's obviously a zxr250a, however the engine number starts with zxr250c? Maybe I read it wrong.. Unless it's got a newer model engine in it?" Honestly I wouldnt worry about it, both the pre 1994 zxr models (so all of the A's) are said to have 45hp at the crank. If someone chucked a c engine inside it just hope that its pre 1994. But I doubt someone has done that though. Aside from that I wouldnt get caught up in the horse power game, even if it is post 1994 and has the 40hp instead there is nothing you can do to gain that back that is worth the trouble. Like if its for fun go ahead and put an exhaust, bigger jets, high flow filter ect ect but odds are you will lose power instead of gaining it. Best to just tune it, balance carbs *nods*. My misses runs a c model on the track which is stock and people dont beleive its a 250 lol ull be hard pressed to squeez more power out of it without breaking something lol.
Oh! And one more thing, which I forgot.. If anyone knows where I can get a copy of the owners manual, that would be excellent It seems to be a very difficult thing to get a hold of.

That's the general consensus from my searching around the internet! Thanks Grey, I've had a look at the resources and found some useful things in there already!
