Hey guys, been riding my bike and I have noticed that sometimes when I rev but mainly when i gear down i hear a buzzin sound.. i think its comin frmo the engine... any ideas on what it could be or to fix it?? Thanks guys Dean
Hopefully it is this minor: could it be your back (pillion) pegs? Mine were loose and did cause some rattling - a quick addition of pull-tie and it was fixed. Of course it means I can't get the pillion pegs down, but then again who would be comfortable riding pillion on that little thing they call a 'seat'? Just a thought...
I believe I have found the sound that was pissing me off. I took my fairings off this afternoon as I need to get it repaired.. So i decided to take the bike for a spin and hit it real hard to see if i could hear the sound more clearly.. and what do u know.. there is no longer a sound. I think my fairings are vibrating quite hard thus makin that high pitch sound so going to put some rubber or sponge between the fairings to ensure they do not buzz anymore.. goddamn annoying buzzes Speaking of annoying buzzes, i have noticed lately that my FZR is making a buzzing sound between 6000 and 7000 revs. Sounds like it's coming from the engine somewhere, or the exhaust? it only makes the sound between 6 and 7 grand, and only when i'm not accelerating hard (or when i do i can't hear the sound anyway.) any ideas, i am thinking it may be the exup??? either way it is driving me crazy. anyone who can help?
I was going to say exup. It begins to open around 7500 - 8000, so the point just below it is when there is the most pressure trying to go through and if your cables are slightly loose then the valve can rattle. So check the cables, and try and tighten them if needed.

Never had that, but maybe wat were descibing as sounds is the same sound.. any chance u can record taht sound so we can hear it? do u get that sound when ur revving the bike in stand still mode?
will try to get the sound if possible, but its quite hard since it doesnt happen when its in neutral. the noise appears only around 6-7rpm when on the move. thinking about taking it to the mechanics if i cant find a solution to fix it up.
Better late than stumped... Yeah this is late I know, but if someone's out there looking for that mysterious buzzy rattling sound and they come across this ancient post.... try checking your keys... or zipper.... or whatever. My bike sounded fine. Then one day I started hearing a high pitched buzz. Turned out it was the extra key I'd put on the key ring the day before

I ride with the single ignition key attached to a rubber Joe Rocket keyring. It doesn't buzz or rattle, and best of all it doesn't scratch the top triple clamp.
