Hey ppl, Ok my bike makes this weird noise most of the time, when it's not on(no key and run is in off position). I'm pretty sure it's something to do with exup. It makes the normal noise when you hit the run button(exup cycling) but say every 5 min maybe less there is this high pitched kinda humming sound anyone know what this is ?? Normal ??
I'm confused. I've never heard of something like this before. Am I correct to think/interpret that this sound is made when the bike is fully off (kill switch, not started)? If so then I have no clue - the bike should essentially be stagnant at this time. If this is a noise when the bike is on, but not started - that is when you can hear the exup. Another possibility could also be something to do with the fuel pump as it also runs in this with bike on but not started. (question though: if this is the case, why would you have your bike on for 5 minutes without starting it?)
HEHE boz mate, this noise is doing my head in man !!!! It happens when the bike is OFF no keys in sight, kill swith off ! and the bike has been left overnight. When I'm gearing up b4 work I hear this phantom noise ! It's a weird sound kinda hard to explain.
haha this is crazy, I have absolutely no idea what this phantom noise comming from my bike is but it has done it since the day i got it and it doesn't seem to be effecting the bike in anyway. If I findout what it is then I will post it on this thread Kinda sounds like fuel pump but i dunno
damn these weird noises just makes it like something is wrong with the bike.. if u can record the noise and post it up so we can all hear this phantom noise
Hmm maybe dean, I have a dictaphone thing for uni that maybe able to record the noise ! Then I could play it into the computer microphone hmm that just may work. Now I gotta wait for the noise it's not all the time hehe
LOL wow i didn't know the phamton nosie came from other fzr''s. Well the fisrt time i heard it it scared me to death <!-- s --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt="" title="Sad" /><!-- s --> i thought the bike was posses but i later found out what was causing the noise. Well one day when me and my mate was chilling he had a xjr600 and i was on my fzr250r and the bike made the PHANTOM NOISE. My mate laughed and said he thought only his bike made that noise. He explained to me that its the gasoline trying to escapse. example( when gasoline is put in a plastic bottle and shaken or exposed to the sun it expands and causes the bottle to swell and when the bottle is open you hear a hissing sound) The same thing applies with our bikes but i dont really know where the gas is escapping from probbly te carbs. <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt=":lol:" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: --> Hope this helps. lol Yeah Ford cars do the same thing dude. They make strange noises from the gas tank its hard out man.
lol i hav the same thing happening to mine...i hear it as a cry from my bike to say "ride me" lol or i think is sulking after ive givin it a good thrash
My son's GPX250 used to do it too. It was the petrol cap vent hole making noises as air was going in as the petrol was contracting as it cooled, creating suction. Petrol expands and contracts a fair bit with temperature, even as day turns to night the air temp drops and WHHHOOOOOOO - ghost noises.
