Kia ora everyone,
I have just purchased a 1987 frz 250 which I need so I can get a full licence, and had to ride 3hrs to the nearest town to have new tyres fitted. Our roads so I've been told are ideal for bike riding, winding, hills, lots of bumps, slumps and roadworks. I enjoyed the ride to the bike shop and waited while the tyres were fitted, then Hubby ( he was on his Honda) and I called into a cafe for sustainence. Back into the ride, heading for home and I felt myself starting to ache, I mean.... like when you ride a horse!!, for those who have no idea what I'm going on about, SORE IN THAT MOST PRIVATE OF PLACES. Stopped twice to stretch, the ride back taking 4hrs. My first solo long distance. I didn't realize it would be so GRUELLING. The wonder of it all, is, I can't wait to do it again.

I do realize the fzr is a sport and not a tourer, but for me shes just great.

Hi Kiwicoaster!!! Welcome to the site!!

Oh great, now I'm doing it over here too.....

Anyway, the longest trip I have taken on a bike one way, was about 14 hrs. I went from Atlanta to St Louis for dinner and came back another 14hrs. Yeah, I was sore for about a week.

Oh, and that was about 23 years ago. I'm planning a 1,000 mile trip, one way, this July. The return trip will be about 1,600 miles.

The longest ride I have ever done is 8 hours. I certainly did not get sore in the "private parts" but OMG, my right hand was ready to drop off at the end

Mine was probably me and daves trip to Port Cambell from werribee. That was leaving at 9..didn't get back till 9 at night. Although not all that time was spent on the bike...id say it was probably a good 9 hours straight on the bike. And around 550 kms.

Dave would have done another 100 kms on top of that getting to werribee and back! lol

Thanks Kiwicoaster, believe me, it was not by choice. I was in a group and it was either, keep up or lose them. Well not that bad.... they were very accomodating and we would stop for a quick break every hour on the way home.

Be a long time before I take on a ride like that again.

Thanks for the welcome Dean.
Has anyone ever told you what a great achievement you do with this site?, in giving help, support and encouragement to learner riders like me and I value the experience and advice of others who ride /ridden fzrs. Just want you to know its worth in my eyes.

Oh, and I'll try that posture of yours next trip. I'll try anything once!

My longest constant ride has been 6.5 hours (stopping only for fuel and snack) - nothing too excessive (this was during my fzr250 days - longest on my yzf has been 4.5 hours).

Longest single day ride was about 8 hours in total (but really was 4 hours in the morning, and 4 hours in the evening). This was on my current bike.

Sorest part for me - tends to end up being my right wrist because I often will release my left hand when things are just straight and un-entertaining. I seriously consider getting a bike cruise control after a long ride.

Yeah your probably right boz, one of those cruise control things would be great for the freeway...save you money in fines as well . They go for pretty cheap dont they?
