6:25pm 1/4/05. Turning right from james ruse drv campbelltown onto Campbelltown Rd.
Just left the lights, accelerated normally around the corner, was in the process of changing into 2nd gear just as i was about to exit the corner so probs doing around 45 - 50kph.
All of a sudden i feel the rear wheel start to slide and then the bike lowsides and away it goes.
The bike slid along the road for approx 30m, coming to rest against the gutter. As i slid towards the gutter myself i was admiring the fancy sparks show that my bike was displaying, very nice

Anyways i slid prob 10m before hitting the gutter with my tailbone and being thrown into the air, coming down on the footpath head first. But at least i was out of the way of traffic.
Went back to the corner and examined it and noticed a small oil spot in the lane immediately before the scrape marks caused by my bike.

Damage to bike:- Not much surprisingly; broken front brake lever, broken right mirror; broken nosecone fairing (although only near the mirror); cracked scratched rear right hand side fairing, scratched exhaust; pretty scratched RHS engine cover.
All i need to do is replace the front brake lever and it's rideable.

Damage to me:- Not much; the usual skin off leg, right butt-cheek, top of right wrist. Very sore very bruised tail-bone, possibly hairline fracture.
Been told by boss not to come to work for at least a week.

Damage to gear:- too much; was wearing normal jeans summer RJays jacket, HJC Helmet and Alpinestars SMX4 gloves and will need to replace all of it due to damage sustained.
See product reviews section for further comments.

Thanks to all the passers-by that stopped, at least 4 cars stopped immediately and made sure i was ok, including the girlfriend who was in front of me in her car when it happened.
A mate of mine showed up 5 mins later in his van and we vanned it back to his house.

Well it had to happen eventually i guess, at least now the FiZzeR has some battlescars!

hehe you know what they say about getting back on the horse.... and as soon as i can sit down i'll be getting back on the FiZzeR. Falling off is part of riding i've come to accept that over the years of riding. (especially dirt bikes)

Bloody oil, it was a spot not much wider than my rear tyre too, if i had been 6 inches either side of it.... oh well.

That was the same with my off on my fzr - going around a corner (though i was only at 20 k/h) and hit a patch of oil - though I lost the front of the bike not the rear. Not much can be done...

Glad to hear you survived relatively unscathed, though too bad about the gear and the bike. With the bike - if you are not too worried about the fairing looks you can probably fix it adequately yourself (using plastex and some fibreglass). The only issue is the paint but you can get that matched.

Again, glad to hear you're alright, and that you still want to ride.

Greeny its good to here that your ok! Doesn't that piss you off though? I think you had one of the cleanest FZR's out there and this happens. Similar to me as well, you come out cause of oil and I come out cause of sand.

Jeez could people clean up after themselves! Anyways good luck with the bike. I still haven't fixed me brake leaver, I heard they are about $20 - 25 for a genuine Yamaha one. A side or top/nose cone fairing will set you back a minimum of $225 each. I've done my research and thats the cheapest @ Metropolitan Motorcycle Spares in Silverwater.

    See ya on the road soon! <!-- s:cool: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cool.gif" alt=":cool:" title="Cool" /><!-- s:cool: -->
