Crashed and busted in the same day at different times..... definitely not good, but that doesn't mean you have to give it up. Does it?

Sorry to hear about the fall, luckily i have never dropped my fzr while riding, only pushing it up the driveway but when it reached the point i knew it was gunna fall i positioned it so it hit the grass with minimal force it only damaged a rear indicator which just a bit loose now. Hopefully it wont happen again too soon.

No luck! But glad to know you are still riding.

Replacement parts (my thoughts):

Grazed knee (LH) - hospital or a kiss from a loved one.

Indicator LH lens gone - can get aftermarket virtually anywhere.
Front fairing shattered on Lh edge - how large is the shatter - could be repairable.
LH side fairng cracked - repair yourself. Fibreglass on back and plastex in the crack (available at bikemart)
LH rear fairn dislodged - not sure what needs to be done
Left ped snapped off - check out wreckers. Probably about $40.
Nasty gouge in LH engine cove - can get bog to fill in the gouge.
Bent bracket for shift lever/foot peg - wreckers again
scatched LH handlebar wieght. - wreckers or live with it.

The above ideas are the cheap alternatives. You can get new parts if you wish.

Bruce (gave your number previously) will have most of the indicator parts etc. if you want to try him.

Plastex is available at bikemart in ringwood.

Phone around various wreckers to find out who has a relatively complete fzr250 and tell them what you need. or try www.findapart.com.au .

chears,

I've welded on the peg, an bent the bracket back for now. So i just need the lens i think.

would you happen to know what is the (Victorian)roadworth requirement when it comes to fairng. Mine are still all secure and ar not going to fall off. I did a good job with the peg, and at a quick glance it doesn't look too butcherised. Do you know what the roadworth requirements are?

No I don't unfortunately. I do know many people who have damage show up for roadworthy without fairing, then when they leave they put them back on. They can not complain when a bike is naked as long as you tell them that you plan to ride it like that.

if you were to book it in for a roadworthy, you would need to have all the fairings on and secured. When i got mine ready for sale one guy in camberwell told me i had to get all the cracks welded/patched up. Another didint give a toss and said it didnt matetr so i assume from that so long as the fairings are pinned down you should be right. Its more a saftey thing to make sure there are no sharp bits or potential for debris to fly off and hit you (or others)

What about bikes that have been converted into street fighters? They get roadworthies without fairings. Couldn't someone just say "it's a streetfighter"? That is what i have heard others do...

The expense of cordura pants with plastic shields in
the knees are of more worth, than any fancy looking bike
as there is only one of you.

Please, don't be offended by this.

no offence taken, i know i got a pair of strides. I also gotta get the bike on the road first. and a pair of gloves.

Thanks for the pointer to that thread. how can we get that put into a sticky. I think a fair few of us have had this problem.

i took the bike for roadworthy today, he knocked it for the fairings. said they were a danger cos they were jaggered. =[ so i got the bike around to my mates spray shop where i am gluing together the fairings atm, ill bog em over and have it back down to him friday.

thanks again

I sanded back the fairings after work today, took a bit sanding back each little broken piece. I'm using this heavy duty epoxy which is (according to a mate), the next best thing to plastic welding.

I prolli wont get it in for roadworthy till monday tuesday. =[

Is it normally a ***** to undo the main four 10mm nuts that hold the front fairing on. 3 of 4 started free spinning so i ended up just pulling the fairing off(fix it later). I needed a pair of visegrips to hold the studs to get the nuts off, but i did get them off, which is the main thing i guess

If anybody has and spare broken 3ln fairings or tanks, i will gladly take them off your hands and give you a bit of cash for them (if they complete)
