The 2kr I just purchased has a dry-rotted rear tire. The bike is currently shod with Dunlop 501. The problem is that the size needed for the FZR is not available here in the US. Any suggestions as to what type of rubber to run on the mini fizzer??

I would rather have a higher performance tire as opposed to a long lasting tire.

Thanks,
Scotty

It was a 100/80-17 front and a 120/80-17.

I am in San Jose, CA. The world's largest city with no personality.
It is located about 45 miles south of San Francisco. Oddly enough, San Jose is the third largest city in California but no one knows where the hell it is.

I've gone for some Avons for my 3LN;

Front = 110/70 - 17 54H, AM51 Hkm
Rear = 130/70 - 17 62H, AM52 Hkm

I can't remember what sizes the 2kr model takes at the moment though. I'll try to remember to post about how I get on with them next week when I get them fitted on the bike.

A 130/70 would be about as wide as I'd go. You can put a 140/60 on there, but I think you see some lean angle and turn-in issues.

I'm headed down that way to the GP in July. Staying in Santa Cruz at a beach house. We should try to hook up while I'm down.

Good thing I didn't say "hook up for a ride" then huh?

How's this? Would you like to meet for a social gathering and then maybe go for a ride on our respective motorcycles along some roads that have many curves.

This is why I love the internet. Cultrual differences.

Just be really glad that you haven't said that your root for a specific team! I have no clue how that could be worked into a motorcycle discussion, but be glad you didn't say it. Perhaps "I was rooting for Corser last night" (good racing BTW).

I know the Aussies get a kick out of the Canadian international sports apparal supplied by roots.

Are you riding down, driving, or flying? Still looking into getting a hotel in Salinas. It is a pretty crappy little town but it is fairly close to Laguna.

There are a great many nice rides in the area. Additionally, there are some maps that are specific for riding. Try going to www.pashnit.com , www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums , and/or www.southbayriders.com/forums

There will likely be several group rides too. Let me know what your itinerary looks like and perhaps I can give you a guided tour. Yosemite is not too far either.

Does not sound like you will have very much time to do anything outside of seeing the races.
