hey

well... the bike starts fine, only takes about a second on the starter, but wen its started it blows loads of whitish-grey smoke.... and sometimes when its been left to idle for a bit it just stalls.

has anyone please got any ideas what this could me?

thanks

If it only happens on start up then goes away when its warm prob just water vapor. You will get more of it if it is cold out. If it is the same thing with the idle, could be that your bike hasnt warmed up yet. Use the choke and see how you go till it is warm.

Or a blown head gasket; but hey lets be optomistic here.
If its pure white then its steam, if it's whitish grey its probably oil. As much as everyone hates smelling exhaust fumes try and sniff it to figure out if its burnt oil or water vapour. Oil has a strong distinct smell when it burns.

If it stops once its warm, sounds like vapour to me.

Does the smoke smell like anti-freeze? If so, you have a head gasket leak. Check your radiator fluid level.

it tends to get a bit better wen its warm or reving.... but i also have a feeling its not just vapour, even though its only really happened since its been really cold...
maby its a mixture of vapour and a bit of oil being burnt...

If it's only been happening since it's been cold, then it is likely only to be water vapour in the exhaust. When petrol is burned, water is produced and that's what you're seeing.

Good work on the license. Remember, no such thing as a stupid question. You should just be happy it wasn’t a head gasket.
