    Well, not quite.

    Got the parts from Joe's Motorcycle yesterday... I was very impressed with how quickly they came in (I ordered them monday arvo).

    I get home, clean everything up, fit them to the bike and everything was sweet.

    I took her for a test ride to make sure she was good... and the damn clutch cable broke <!-- s:mad: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_mad.gif" alt=":mad:" title="Mad" /><!-- s:mad: --> <!-- s:mad: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_mad.gif" alt=":mad:" title="Mad" /><!-- s:mad: -->

    So I'll buy another one at lunch time and hopefully she'll be right to go again.

    On a side note, I've just thrown some cheap castrol 10w40 semi-synth oil in it (bought from a servo). it was $25 for 5L... and for the hour I was riding (including the 20 minutes riding home without a clutch) it was very smooth. I was quite impressed. it'll be interesting to see how long it holds up.

    Yeah 2~3 days is fairly standard for stuff that is already in the country. The fun begins when the parts need to come on a slow boat from Japan, then 2~3 days become 2~3 weeks.

    I might go down to Jo's on the weekend and get some brake pads, I bet they wont be covered under the 15 - 20% sale off everything they have going, lol.

    or an even slower boat from the US. I sent a shock to a member in Perth in Aug 04 and I got it back in Jan 05. Sent it again in Feb 05 and it got there in Feb 05. Cost me $60 each time.

    sorry to hear about that, mate <!-- s:( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" /><!-- s:( -->

    i know how you feel. maintaining a car is like sharing a beer with a man, easy. maintaining a bike is like trying to appease a woman, bloody hard.

    even I have to admit that <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

    if any one wants brake pads... I can get front and rear pads for the 2KR and rear for the 3LN... $25 a set.. + postage if not in Melbourne...

    I'm hoping to be able to get cheep front pads for the 3LN as well... right now they are still around whopping $50!!

    Last time I was down there they quoted me $25 a set all round, so $75 all up. I don’t really know if they are good pads or not, how would one tell?

    Interesting question... at that price I would think they are aftermarket replacements for the OEM pads.... OEM pads some times can be thiner and not last as long as the aftermaket ones... usualy you can tell by the part number say VD-249 are standard front pads for the 3LN but you can buy a VD-249-2 which means it has twice as much of the "meat" as standard... ALL aftermarket pads are made to OEM specifications regarding compounds in the pad it self... though you can get other compounds as well... to confuse you futher some places will recycle the carrier and glue on a new surface... these are the CHEEPEST pads but they also suk and I have heard of the glue failing...

    so simply ask who is the manufacturer... and are they recycled...

    I'm guessing the cheap pads you can get Tbone are decent?

    oddly I have many customers coment how good they are... so yes they are deacent...

    things that I have found with the pads:
    at first they can smoke a little when running in
    they don't seam to cause uneven weare on the disks (or at least it is not as bad)
    when you get some major heat in to them they get REAL good hance some of my customers use them on the track rather than pay for the sintered
    And some people have expirianced "sining" or some noise from their braks (so far there have been only two ME and another VFR750)
