Hiya guys!

I have a 3LN1, and I was wondering if you guys had any ideas as to what paint job I should go for... trouble is - the fairings on mine are a bit mix & match... side & front fairings are plain white, rear is white and blue, and the little fairing over the front wheel is black/dark blue. Fueltank is the same scheme as the rear fairings - white/dark blue/light blue. My rims are white - not too sure if you can get silver rims for them now... ?

I was hoping to paint it all navy blue, with white features or something... but it might be a bit hard to do - now I'm even considering bringing it back to original livery!

Here are a few pictures a m8 took of it:

Well your gonna have to decide if you want to go the whole way and paint the entire thing a new scheme, or if you just wanna take the half assed approach and vinyl it up.

Given that you've already got a white base on the side and front fairings, vinyling them wouldn't be too difficult at all - and you could probably colour match the blue's from the tank and rear with a vinyl so it would look pretty stock.

I guess it all comes down to time, effort & money.

A custom spray job can also lead potential buyers to assume that the bike has been in an accident (hence potentially decreasing its value).

Or it can make squids like myself go "oooh, pretty colours" and pay more for it *shrugs*

    Bit of a risk, anyway.

You could polish your rims up (and make them silver) yourself. See http://www.netrider.net.au/articles/?page=polished_rims

That was the same as mine before the fairings took flight whilst crossing an overpass.

Here is a link to one of my posts with my polished rims.

If you go this way, dont use kwikstrip or polystrip, they suck, the best one is Saprkos which is in the yellow tin at Bunnnings.

If you choose to go with another colour, be prepared to spend alot of time sanding back those bloody fairngs

Yes I beleive that ONE forgotten bolt was all that was needed for the fairing to tear off at 60km/h and fall of the Gorehill Freeway. Smashed to peices by passing cars as he looked on. FZR are better naked.

    R.O.F.L.M.A.O. !!!

Just imagining this fairing flying over the freeway and trying to enter someone's car through the windscreen LoL!

Good point m8... but it's been knocked around a bit before I got to it (and knocked it around some more! - lol ok only ONE time... ) and I think the potential buyers would probably be able to tell whether it's been dropped/crashed before... it hasn't got standard mirrrors, and the pipe is also 3rd-party.

I'm also REALLY interested in getting a new tail for it... hell there's SOO much I wanna do to it, I just can't figure out the order in which to do it!

Yeah Im so with you on getting a new tail fairing, let us know what you find!

I was thinking of callinga round to find an R6 Tail piece, then taking my bike over and trying it on to see if there was any chance of getting it on...

There is a link around about a guy who did it from an R6 to his FZR 600 with photos and everything, I think the biggest problem about the FZR 250 is the smaller size (obviously)...

I was thinking of doing a upgrade set for the FZR250... the problem is there is not such a big demand...

On the other hand... the CBR250... that will defenatly get an upgrade fairing set.. in fact there is one avalable from Taiwan...

Hey TBone, perhaps you could do the upgrade to the tail of the FZR only?

Perhaps even import the tail bits of the CBR kit and modify them slightly to fit the FZR and sell them as FZR tails or something.

The tail form is so definitive to the aesthetics of sportbikes - moreso than the front in my opinion... definately start there I think!
