am trying to change the coolant in my bike, but cant find the drain plug. can anyone tell me where it is, in the manual it says there more then 1 to drain the coolant out of the engine aswell, but i cant make out where it is showing the drain plugs are, and i cant for the life of me find them. Cheers Hayden
If it is a 3ln like mine I just disconnect the coolant pipe where it joins to the pump. When the bike is on the side stand it is the lowest point in the system so it all drains out at that point. Just remember not to do it right after going for a ride, let the bike cool a bit first and don’t forget to take the cap off the radiator. I stick a hose in the radiator to flush it out till comes out clear, let it drain reconnect the cooling pipe and refill coolant slowly with the bike vertical to avoid and air being trapped.
I'm not sure if it's that different between the 2kr and the 3ln engines, but there's a drain plug on the frame on the left hand side bottom in front of the gear shifter. You should see a bolt in the frame that appears to be there for no reason. The other 2 are on the front of the engine, below the cylinder head, one on the left and one of the right (at the front). They also appear to be there for no reason (nothing connected, just the bolts) These two were (on my bike at least) normal bolts that you undo with spanners/sockets but with phillips head indentations so you can use a phillips head screw driver also. Hope that helps
Yeah I had a look at the 2kr manual and it looks like when the frame changed to the deltabox design and the bottom cord of the frame got the arse they just made the hose longer.
i got it all done, the water that came out look fairly rusty, so hopefully there is no damage in there. was thinking maybe the person i got the bike off just had water in it, altho there was a slightly green tinge to the rusty water.
i flushed it till the water ran clean. hopefully i wont have any problems in the future with the cooling system. hoping to get 2 trouble free years out of this bike, and then still be able to sell it cheers
