Hey guys,

Can anyone else in Sydney let me know if the following sounds reasonable:

    - Set of brake pads for FZR250 3LN (two for front and one for back): $120

Also, what would be the cost of replacing my exhaust? It's been scratched up since I bought the bike, and looks like it may actually have a tiny hole where it's rubbed through in the crash.

I've been told you can get them covered in a stainless steel sheath, just need to find someone who presses/folds stainless steel...

OR i could go down the sports exhaust route, but I'm sure that's the most expensive option, and i don't want to spend much on it...

    Cheers for any suggestions...

$120 sounds a bit much - is that fitted? If fitted then it may be ok...

As for your exhaust - you can buy stuff at most autoshops to fill small holes. Fill, and then polish it up. If it is small then you may not be able to notice. You could (to make it look nice) perhaps consider painting it as well - there is some high temp paint you could use. Somone painted their headers black on this site (I forget who right now) - I assume you could use the same stuff.

Reskinning an exhaust shouldn't set you back too much; i'm honestly not sure on a dollar figure but i'd be guessing that for $100-150 you should get a polished stainless steel reskin on the existing can. It's a pretty simple job from the looks of it.

As for the brake pads; $120 fitted would be reasonable. Your looking at about $30 per pair of pads, so $90 plus fitting. If your being charged $120 plus fitting i'd say now is a good time to download that service manual (or look through one of the FZR250.com tutorials) and get your hands dirty.

I repainted the headers with VHT 1200 but for the can you can use the engine enamel made by the same people for the can. I remember seeing pictures of an across at twofifty.c c that had this done and it didn’t look too bad.

    Linky linky.

I am with koma with the cost of getting the ss sheet welded onto it. Can’t hurt taking a trip down to the wreaker, never know they might have something sitting in the yard that you like. Remember to get a quote for the ss sheet and then try and get the wreaker to beat the price. It’s surprising sometimes how much you can talk them down using this method.

I was quoted $35 for a pair of brake pads so 35*3 = $105. It’s not hard to replace the pads yourself if you know what not to do and the tutorials on the site are pretty nifty.

P.S. Has anyone found out why the server won’t let people have a double c in a post?

Lets just say we're working on it.
I think the best fix will be if/when Boz upgrades to the newer BBforum version.

The price for pads was just for the parts - I'll be installing them.

This price is from MCAS - the front pads are $42 each side, and $39 for the back.

I was suprised at the expense - you can get pads for a car cheaper than that, and they're a hell of a lot thicker and bigger...damn bikes are a rip off!
