does anyone happen to know exactly what type of plastic was used to make 2Kr fairings? Im reading up on how to repair them and it says there should be something written on them to identify and can't find anything on mine. I dont want to go rushing in there until i know what im dealing with. Im guessing its thermoplastic instead of a thermoset ie it can be plastic welded, but i was just wondering if anyone on here had more experience and knew? there should be an id number like ABS/PA+PPO/PC+ABC or something like that. if anyone has any off the bike and could have a look that would be great. cheers
pm tbone - he would probably know the answer to this (and what you can / can't do to the fairings on an fzr)
ABS but they are SO old it is dificult to weld them well... Also I do belive Yamaha on some bikes add something to their plastic to make them very very difficult to weld...
ok thanks thats great. I have a few quite tricky bits but a couple of small cracks that should be ok. be nice to actually have my fairings on the bike!
