I am looking to buy one of these bikes, and the sellers comment is that it has trouble pulling away at low revs, but his son says it is ok when it is reved to 3500, can anyone please tell me if this is a hard or expensive problem

    Thanks.

It's normal, even at 3500 it doesn't really pull.

Easiest way is to go and take it for a test ride, or to pay a little $$$ and get a proper inspection done by a mechanic - preferably one with FZR experience.

'Doesn't pull below 3k rpm' sounds like a standard description for all FZR250's! I wouldn't be overly concerned. As long as it rev's out and there's no weird power curve then should be right.

lol, i cant really take for a test drive, he is in sydney and im in lismore, which is 800km north... thats why i sort of want to know this kind of stuff.
it would be great to be able to give a test drive. and while on subject of reving, for a 94 model, does anyone know the redline?

i love a bike that can scream, and ive heard that these will scream until 18k before they redline

why would u want it to pull at 3500 revs???
the rev meter starts at 3000 revs. Im new so i prolly dont get what u guys mean, but these bikes have a red line at 18k. if u compare this to say a car my vk 5.0ltr redlines at 6,500 revs and that doesnt pull at 1,000 revs does it?? so why would u want a bike to pull at such a low rev range. I dont expect my car to pull until 2,500 3,000 revs. so i dont expect my bike to pull until 7,500-10,000 revs. yes cars are totaly different to bikes so can someone explain. <!-- s:oops: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_redface.gif" alt="" title="Embarassed" /><!-- s:oops: -->

i usually take off at about 5500 or 6000, even when not racing it.

It has a widdle bit of pull at 3krpm for me. I keep it at those revs when getting up my driveway, and when riding on footpaths etc.

i take off at about this much and rev it all the way to about there. In first that works out to about that fast which is never fast enough and then i find that I have to change gear.

advise, check the bike out and/or get a mechanic to check it out for you. Buy it with the appropriate roadworthy certificate or saftey inspection for your state and if you are paying less than 3-4g you should be ok.

after my tune up, valves clearances and new carbies, mine idles with choke @ 4,000rpm once warm. no choke, drops down under 3. Prior to the service with choke it idled under 3rpm, so what the correct idle speed with choke?? the shop said 4k is normal, to me it seams abit loud. No other bike prevents me from hearing my friends talk when leaving work.

According to the specs I have 1600rpm is the correct idle speed.
