I took this flick with an EL-CHEAPO digital video camera that records on to a memory card. The quality has been reduced to keep file size down

The audio has suffered a bit with sound conduction thru the frame so it gets distorted/overloaded, raspy above 4,500rpm. The camera was mounted on to the triple clamp with a tiny G-clamp arrangement. It looks thru my windshield which is very dark but the picture quality and colour is not too bad. Much better than I expected.

I am working on a rubber mount which will improve the audio and also minimise the bouncing of the camera.

The last uphill is fairly steep, turns gently right then dropping sharply over the crest on the left corner - bit tricky.

If anyone is interested, I will post another vid later of a ride thru the town.

    Here it Is

my other vid that I posted earlier is here.

I'd like to keep all my points and $$$

That is just a convenient bit of road near home, I have to go further for better roads.

This is something that I would like to do. I have the camera, and access to a tank mount, but I have a dark tinted screen, so you wouldn't be able to see anything. Plus, I would hate to damage our new camcorder. I will one day probably get a remote lens for it so I can strap it where ever I like.

    Nice vid by the way...

This vid was done thru a dark screen ---> fzr5221.wmv using this camera, which is the size of a cigarette packet and takes a SD card to record on. This cam which I bought 2 years ago on ebay, has a 512mb card in it and will take about 1 hour of video at 354x288 30fps 800kbyte/sec ASF (mpeg4) format. (SAME AS WMV).

A similar but newer model camera is this one which appear to 640x480 at 30frames a second.
    camera

The other video fzr250.wmv was done with a Mini-DV camera in its bag held on the tank by a hockey strap and connected to a mini spy camera under the mirror. The Mini-DV camera has AV IN/OUT plug so it can record external video. I just bought another mini spy camera on E-bay a couple of weeks ago for $30 incl. postage..

Do a search of E-bay for security camera you will find them.

I have just uploaded another vid to PHOTOBUCKET for a trial, seeing that they do vids now. I took this at the same time as the other ones, just never posted it. Same problem of audio conduction.

I would love too - it's so tempting, BUT, limits are 50k thru the town centre, 70k on the short section of highway starting at the BP servo and 60k up the steep hill.

You can see I stretched the friendndship with the law as it was.

its better to have a record of you trickling down the road than you being recorded in a cell with big pimping joe and some stell bars.

Either the spy cam/miniDV combination or just using the MiniDV camera will give excellent picture quality.

The other camera that records on to SD card does not have the same video quality but cost wise it is a winner. The newer version of that camera does video at 640x480 30fps so it would be better than mine. Mine will do 640x480 but only 11fps and the picture quality is good if you dont mind the jerkiness.

If you are just posting on the net both setups will be ok as you reduce the size and quality to get the file sizes down anyway.
