Skid marks from friend's car when he locked up the wheels to let my other mate on my bike through the gap:

Cop checking out my bike, in this picture you can see 2 of the poles it mowed down on the left. There was another 2 rails going horizontal joining them to the bars on the right. The FZR removed the lot :p 1 Bar was found about 30 metres down the road, the other was found about 10m down the median strip.

This one's of the peices strewn along the way, there were peices on either side of the road.

This one's the most menacing, really digs into me :/

Storyline shall come later tonight, but put short, 2 of my mates were racing, one in his car, one on my bike, and the one in the car hit the skids to let the guy on the bike through a gap (single lane with railings either side). Guy on the bike couldn't take the corner and put the bike and himself into a load of steel railings.

Estimated speeds of Ford Capri (car involved): app 100km/h before jumping on brakes as to not run over the guy on the bike.

Estimated speeds of Guy on FZR250: 110+, was passing the guy on the capri at a pretty decent speed when he came off.
    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Lessons to be learnt to all:

*Speeding DOES cause accidents, BUT only because the rider was VERY inexperienced. (The corner would have been possible by a skilled rider with balls at 120+)
*It was a 60 zone, and for good reason, they don't put speed limits up for nothing.
*Never lend your bikes to amte
*Coming off a bike at that speed will leave you dead, but in this case he was lucky, and only suffered a partially collapsed lung.
    * Total bill to guy on bike to cover cost of bike and helmet replacement: $3600

I'll check back to this thread later...

Ouch! Just hope your mate coughes up the money to pay for the bike.

Its a definte no no to lend a motorbike to an inexperienced rider. Heard so many stories like yours. But, I guess if you dont really care if they smash it as long as they pay....

F'me! That looks like a bloody lucky escape for the rider.
I sense a barrage of negligent driving/riding charges from the police.

I guess that's one less FZR250 on the roads. You gonna salvage it for parts or just take your money and start over?

well i have got that spare frame and all, i'll probably just give the lot to him, it MAY be possible ot build 1 good bike out of it all....., maybe.

But i'm wanting to be paid cash in full for it all.

his stupidity caused it at the end of the day. I mean what was he thinking? that's too fast even for me! :p

Sorry to hear it. I guess you will find out just how good a mate he really is. I guess you know it already but their is a time and a place and I think he screwed up on both accounts.
Hope it all turns out alright.
So true. Just a week ago the same sort of thing happened here. Rider lent their R1 to a chick that probably wasn’t up to it. High sided out on the cotter road, R1 was chewed up and spat out by a land rover and the girl did a superman impersonation into a ditch on the opposite side of the road. Came out with a broken collar bone and a huge debt, very lucky that was all.

Since then i've replaced the forks, tank, tank cover, radiator and a few other things. It's leaking heaps of oil from the front of the rocker cover which is pissing me off, and the carbies are running like ****. Meh, I'll figure it out eventually. I got the shits with it trying to fix it last night and kicked it over (on grass, no fairings). The bike goes, but needs mucho worko done to it. Still does a good burnout :p

The guy came out of it pretty much unscathed.

And yes, I was crying when I was helping pull it onto the tow truck, nto otu loud, but there were tears running down my cheeks...

Thanks for taking the time to post those.

My brother wanted to take mine for a spin the other day and I told him just how much I wanted if he lunched it.

Mine has cost me close to 7000 and 4 months of my provisional licence out of action.

He opted out of course and no one else has the option now.

    I feel your pain <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

Also...the metal ring around the petrol lid and the plastic air-intake bits on both sides of the tank?

    Cheers.
