I finally have my bike back on the road. Just did a trans swap to a 6-speed (I stole it from Boz's bike), a oil mod for the clutch (requires drilling holes and champhering (sp?) them), new stainless lines up front along with an R1 mastercylinder, new stainless line for the clutch, and powder-coating the frame.

Next on the "LIST" is to paint the palistics or buy a new helmet.

I was wondering why my bike wouldn't go anymore...

Well done! Looks absolutely fantastic. Love the powder coated frame.

Question: why did you do the oil mod on the clutch?

For better lubrication of the inner plates/disks.

    G'damn thats looking nice!
Hows the 6 speed going so far? Swapped back to the 47 rear or left it with the extra teeth on it?

I know it is more psychological than anything, but I like having the 6th gear. Every bike I have owned has had a 6-speed. With that being said, in the lower rpm's 2nd and 3rd are almost identical and top gear isn't really any different that the old 5th (with the non-standard 49 tooth rear).

    @ 70 mph (112 kph) I'm turning 4700-4800 rpm's

It certainly looks the goods. Well done.

At 112 the little 250 is pushing 9500. I would be so lost riding a bike that could do that speed at 4800rpm, I’m guessing my license would be to.

You'd be surprised actually! I adapted pretty quickly to the power coming on a such low rpm (well still high compared to a v-twin). After the first day or two you learn that if you try and make the bike make the same noises your doing warp speed before you leave first... so you start to ride according to the 'seat of the pants' feel instead of the noise.

I rode a 2004 ZX6R the other day, and still being in FZR1k mode i kept it below about 13k most of the ride. I had to force myself to use the upper end of the rev range... and even then it wasn't very exciting; quick enough to keep me awake, but not 'woohoo' exciting. I'm slowly starting to understand why people enjoy riding twins. I'm still shopping around for somewhere i can try out a few of the newer twins like the SP1/2 and especially an RSVR. Duke's don't really interest me as much.

my boss has the sp1, its in my avatar. im excited at the thought of one day riding the beast. i wont be touching a bike of that power for atleast 15 months. The power it has is amazing. ive been on the back of it doing 280kmph and the time it took to get there is unbelievable. when he starts it up infront of me its so loud. He pops wheelies up behind me and flies past standing up on his pegs. when he pops it up in front of me the exhaust absolutly CRACKS!! And u see the burst of flame pop out the back.

Yeah, twins are hot. Last time I was in Townsville my brother in law was minding a 2004 Tuono with twin custom pipes. The guy that he was minding it for had lost his license not long after taking delivery of it. Started it up in the underground carpark of their building and the noise was incredible.

Is it true the VTR is still running carburetors?

Are you planning on keeping the stock colours or go the custom option?

I know for a fact that Firestorms are still running carb's, but not sure about the SP2 and SP1's.

Luckily for me I can have the best of both worlds. I have an extra set of lowers, rear sides and a tank that I'm going to have custom sprayed.

Pilot Powers actually by the looks of them.
Some people swear by them... and others just swear at them. Personally im not a Michelan man, and have had a few bad experiences with Pilot Roads, and as such have stayed away from all blends of Pilot tyres since. Give me something predictable like a Metzeler M1 or a Pirelli Diablo anyday! Next set of hoops i think i'll put on will be the new Metzeler M3's. They've been getting good reviews from what i've read so far.

Thanks Bizz. As far as a color scheme? Hmmm... looks like I'm headed in the Black & Gold/yellow direction. I'm thinking of 5 sets of gold/yellow stickers: FZR, Deltabox Combination, Genesis, Yamaha, and EXUPBrotherhood. I know where all of them are going except the last 2

As Koma stated, they are Pilot Powers. I had never had Michelins before I got this bike. I had been a Metzler and Dunlop guy.

When I bought the bike, it came with a set of Pilot Sports. Wow were those good in the rain. I used up about 8k miles on them before I had to take them off, as I was going on a very long trip and they wouldn't have made another 3K.

I've now had them for 5K and they hardly look worn and they are cheaper than the Pilot Sports.

Personally, I'd recommend them to anyone but my competition.
