    i dont know if this has been discussed or even better done before, but heres the idea, to connect up the air intake pipes that connect through to the front fairing and pipe them directly into the air box, in the process moving the top coil to the rhs of the frame, i know that in a car this certainly has performance enhancements, what do u think?

    also has anyone tried pod filtering the carbies?

    Pods have been done. I can’t remember any names unfortunately. My advice (you probably don’t want to hear it but here it is anyway) keep the stock air box as is.

    Your carbs work because of something called the venturi effect. It is a hell of allot more effective when the turbulence in the air is minimized. The airbox is your main weapon in this fight and removing it crates allot more work. Tuning is going to set you back the most cash but your fuel economy is also going to take a slide.

    As for the 'ram air effect' you will have to modify the airbox again as well as a few extra air tubes to parts of the carbs. Again tuning is the thing that will break you.

    It can be done but it won’t be pretty or cheap. These are not quick easy bolt on hp gains. Don’t let me stop you, if you really want to do it go for it, but know what you are getting yourself into.

    The cbr250 forums are the place to find mods like this. Some that work some that don’t and about 5000 a day asking why their bike won’t start.

    Hey Dan

    I have tried this, it does not work well...unless you install larger jets into your carbs (to compensate for the extra air) and get the bike tuned well. I tried cold air intake on me FZR250 and it had flat spots all through the rev range...

    However when I brought my CBR400rr it had a modded air box with cold air intakes, the bike mad a awesome sound when on full throttle....kind of like a VTEC...however the carbs had been jetted and something else had been done to so it ran right.

    Another interesting thing to think about, when Yamaha, Honda etc design their bikes...they design the intake & exhaust as one. What I mean is evey part of the intake including those pipes coming from the front of the bike to the stacks between the airbox and the carbs has been designed to suit the exhaust.. so they say if you change the can you get the carbs jetted etc etc However on some bikes it doesnt make a huge difference.

    Sorry about the long post.. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

    Re: SPAM

    Which has been deleted.... We could do somethinglike that Dave, but it is more of a hassle for the Admin's and Mod's to have to verify each.

    You wouldn't beleive how many spammers I delete that you guy's never see.
