    Yeow, Ive just been calling around Auckland automotive shops looking for a set of plugs and Ive been quoted up to $20 per plug!

    Repco = $17 per plug ($68 set of 4)
    Supercheap Auto = $16 ($64 set of 4)
    Bike mechanic = $20 ($80 set of 4!)

    Whats with that? Ive heard you guys in aussie talking about getting them for like $5 and stuff - show us your difference in living costs! haha Could be something to do with NZ having water...

    The cheapest I've seen is $4 a spark plug making it $16 for a set.

    Yeah, I wouldn't expect more than $5 a plug. At least that's what I paid for my NGK's, Nippon's, and Bosch's.

    I owe you a coupla bucks did you want me to send some down? I'm sure I only paid $16 or $18 for 4. Take into account postage and the exchange-you've gotta be on top by a mile

    are you sure they are quoting you for normal plugs and not irridium? Those are prices I have been quoted for irridium...

    I normally pay $4 / plug.

    Definitely sounds like you being quoted for Iridium plugs not standard.
    Cheapest i've ever got plugs for was ~$3.80 each, normal is ~$4, and expensive is anything over $5.

    Yeah I thought the same but they said they're just the standard plugs... perhaps I should call back and make sure the people I talk to know their stuff. Surely the mechanic place would have told me if they were irridium...

    How common is that kind of plug though? Smaller motorbikes bikes only?

    Perhaps they just looked through their catalogue to check which plugs they have the most mark-up on... most likely iridiums! Get the actual model number of the plug as that will instantly tell you what your buying.

    For the FZR250 a normal NGK plug is the CR8E. The iridium is the CR8EIX (if i remember correctly). Generally, the iridiums will be 4x the price of a standard plug as it's argue'd they last 4x as long. As long as changing plugs isn't too difficult i would just get the regulars; if it's something horrible to change the plug then cough up the extra and get the iridiums.

    That was the part number I quoted, the CR8E's. I didnt realise that the irridiums were a different part number - Now I know that, I definately quoted them the standard plugs.

    I called the dealer here in the states, they wanted $2.95 USD each for the plugs but wanted $124 USD for a battery?!?!? I got the battery elsewhere for $65 USD

    That's a good price on the battery. They usually go for ~$100-130 AU depending on the bike.

    Suzuki Across batteries from my recollection are pretty damn small... but that said, most 250 batteries are small. The really expensive one is for an '02+ R1. Apparently they're a different size or shape from 'normal' and as such are limited to just a few models of the R1.
