Alas poor fizzer, I knew him well...

I've finally grown sick of the 250 - the power delivery (or lack thereof) just ain't doing it for me any more, and there's no need to stick with a 250 seeing as I've been on my blacks for almost 12 months now.

I've got my eye on a brand new CBR 600 - sexy underseat pipe and all. I've had enough of stuffing around with second hand - they're always fiddly.

Not to knock the FZR though - it was a nice sporty introduction to riding and served me well most of the time.

A guy in Qld wants to buy it - couldn't believe the response I had! I put it on bikepoint on Sunday night, and by the next morning I had one email, and received 3 calls during the day too.

well, I've got the new bike, sold the old FZR for 3500 which I was stoked with.

I've gotta say, for all those who are still riding 250s when they could legally be on something bigger: do it!

The CBR600RR 06 is brilliant - it makes riding so much more exciting, it's like riding for the first time all over again.

For a start, because it's a brand new bike, it runs so smooth after the rattly Fizzer ( I realise its not necessarily a trait all FZRs have...I was told it was the worn bushes in the exup valve that made the noise).

Take off is fantastic, and it has a lot more usable power than the 250. It's also nice getting decent fuel economy. With the 18L tank, I get 230km before reserve, whereas out of the 14L FZR, I'd get only 150km. The carbs were never balanced in the FZR and it ran very rich, so again it's not going to be that dramatic with all of this model, but I think the fuel injection of the CBR will always outdo a carburettored (?) engine.

I just love the engine note it gets when you're in a high gear and open the throttle, it just has this really guttural tone, it's so sweet.

Handling is brilliant too - I can see why it always gets really favourable reviews. Very flickable, from what little twisty stuff I've done so far.

Looking at doing an advanced rider course - any thoughts? I looked at the Superbike School course at Eastern Creek, $400 sounds a bit exxy.

Wow, never figured that a 600 would be more ecconomical than a 250...

I know worn needles, de-tuning and a higher rev range makes things run rich and all, but thats still quite a difference. Thanks for all the goodstuff on the CBR600!

Makes R6's all the more justafiable aswell...

I have been getting ~4.5L/100km on the SV650s and was pleasantly surprised. The main advantage of fuel injection is its efficiency compared with carburettors.

That is better economy than I was getting on the FZR250 or the GS500.

I'm still happy with my 6.5l/100km's out of my FZR1000. Keep in mind that fuel economy isnt really my 'thing', so when i quote those figues that takes into account my fairly aggressive riding style.

haha yeah no doubt the figures will go up a bit once I get the new pipe on and become more comfortable with the way it behaves.

The above figure was calculated after the first tank of easy around town riding.

I hate to say it but the girl in the photo just seems out of place on that bike. I feel she is very uncomfortable about the whole thing.. (PS I'm not gay or anything like that either)

I think you'll find its because the photograph was taken by a bystander and not the person/photographer she was posing for. That and the fact that she looks like she's about to get off the bike just as the photo was taken.
