So I park my bike on the kerb (Weird slope) and I get off, turn around start talking to some lady, turn back and see my baby falling followed by a big bang. I don't know how I managed but I sorta turned around, laughed and said "**** happens".

The bike fell in the opposite direction to the stand and I'm not quite sure how but it's history so **** it.

All up I got a smashed windscreen and a nice dent in my exhaust, coupled with the previous owners two drops = not too good.

Today I took of the front and side fairings and went and got myself some plastex, also ordered a windscreen in dark black tint which I got for $100 from my local Yamaha service center, the plastex cost $40 and I was a little bit hesitant but it really is good ****.

I'm intending on taking some before/after pics to show everyone what can be done with a bit of time and plastex. This includes fixing cracks/bogging holes with plastex/bog, using touchup paint, all simple **** which can be done in your garage. I'm trying to squeeze this into a two week time frame. The following is what I need to do and I'll update it as I progress.

    Front Fairing:
    - Fix main cracks - Done
    - Remove purple decals - Done
    - Fix large chunk missing in left side Done
    - Bog up a largish scratch/fracture down the bottom - Done
    - Touch up with metallic white Done
    - Replace windshield (Ariving soon)

    Side Fairings:
    - Fix holes/scratches - Done
    - Fix screw holes/threads - Done
    - Remove purple decals - Done
    - Cover up affected areas with some stickers
    - Apply new FZR decal to both sides

    Back:
    - Fix all cracks in boot and large crack on side (Major) - Done
    - Remove purple decals

    Bike:
    - Touch up frame with black (A few scratches)
    - Change slip on with aftermarket one (Ariving soon)

Overall I'm trying to get rid of all the purple decals since this is where a lot of the damage is, I'll post a before/after pic so you guys can see exactly what I'm on about, I'll also update this with progress.

I don't know why I'm posting this and it seems kinda stupid but I'm bored and need something to do so there ya go :p.

Sounds like a good little project!
The thing to remember is that 250's are going to be dropped... its inevitable. Be it through silly mistakes like yours or actual accidents on the road; and as such i think it's a little pointless to make the bike one of those immaculate bling machines! Just fix it up so your happy with it, then ride it, ride it some more... then go ride it again. After all, the small machines are for getting experience!

Damn! I just spent 3.5 hours on just the side fairings, all holes and cracks in the sides are fixed, all I need to do know is fix the back up, missing chunk at the front (Waiting for the piece from the owner) and touch it all up with white/blue/black.

if i may make a suggestion, try using (countersunk) tiny rivets and stainless sheets for added support if you have large flimsy cracks in awkward places.
    worked wonders for me

Thanks for the suggestion mate however the cracks aren't that serious to warrant that (Lucky me :p)

I fixed the cracks in the boot, now all I have to do is the following:

    - Remove all purple decals
    - Touch up affected areas with metallic white.
    - Glue missing front bit from original owner.
    - Put on new windshield.
    - Put on new pipe.
    - Go over a crack or two from the outside as well (A bit stronger I spose)
    - Give it a nice wash and wax <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->, maybe get it detailed?

Provided that my windshield and pipe arrive tomorrow it'll all be done and ready to ride by tomorrow arvo.

What's the pipe you're getting? Where from and how much?

Today I fixed up the front and attached it to the bike but I'm having some serious issues in getting the damn side fairings on.

For some reason if I align all the screws and put it together the front fairing bit won't match up with the side fairings! Everything seems right but its like the front is too high, this can't be because the headlight is in perfectly though.

    Guys, any ideas?

As for the pipe, I got it from eBay, it's an "Over Racing" branded pipe, I'll see how it goes as it hasn't arrived yet.

You might have bent the top fairing stay in the drop.

This is a pretty interesting thread, Ive been considering doing something like what youre doing to my poor beast but I'd never heard of plastex before...

So about those before and after pics, I'll definately be keen to see them!

    Sliders

Hi guys, just wanted to ask if any of you use frame sliders on your fizzers? The reason being is that I am considering attaching a pair on mine.

    TIA <!-- s:cool: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cool.gif" alt=":cool:" title="Cool" /><!-- s:cool: -->

I used plastex on the headlight housing on my FZR and it worked quite well. Both of the mounting tabs on one side were broken off, one partlly missing, I used the mould putty to make a new piece.

Sorry mate, had an off just after fixing it up and all kinds of engine troubles. When I'm done repairing it (should be a week or two) I will fix up the plastic again and take some pics.

    Sorry again.
