I just thought I would say Hi as I've just bought a 1989 FZR250 basket case.

I've got two 1000 EXUPs plus two that I've broke for bits and thought I would get a smaller bike as a local runabout as the 1000s are a bit much. So I picked up a cheap bike that looks like it's all there but needs a lot of TLC as it's been stood for many years. I only got it home late last night in the dark so don't know anything about it yet. The plan is to strip it down and check/service everything.

I've got lots of technical data for the 1000s but I'm starting again on the 250 so if anyone knows where I can get a parts manual, Yamaha service manual or indeed any manual then that would be great.

Hey Plodder, Welcome to the site.

Being that you've got a couple of 1000's have you been over to the EXUPBrotherhood?

As for a manual for the FZR250..... hhmmmm..... Well, we have the FZR400 manual in English and the FZR250 in Japanese. Working between the 2 is the best that we can offer at this time. Trust us... we've been looking for 2 years as a group, but to no avail. Hell, I don't even own a 250 and yet I still help out and try where I can....

I can email you the copies that I have, but you'll have to E-MAIL me first. My addy is below my sig. If you could, put FZR250 in the subject line for spam filters.

I'm aware of it but haven't registered.

I'm already on exup1000.co.uk and fzr1000.co.uk and don't have much time to get on those

We may not see as much traffic over there, but the 2 sites you listed have splintered off from us.

    Oh dear me.

I've cleaned out the carbs and got it running.... it's smoking a lot.

OK, so it's gunna need parts... the question is where can I get parts from in the UK i.e. Pistons, ring and and valve seals. Don't know what I need yet but that lot are sure on the list . FZR250 parts do not seem to be listed anywhere I know... is it any better anywhere else?
