Hi I am in Perth and looking to purchase a FZR250. Can anyone tell me if they are hard to get serviced being a grey import? I have a ski boat to sell, but I will put this in a different post. Looking forward to getting out there and riding a FZR. Ben <!-- s:-? --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_Eyecrazy.gif" alt=":-?" title="Eye Crazy" /><!-- s:-? -->
Nope, not hard to service at all. The only difficulties people have with FZR250's is that the carb's tend to be fiddly generally because the needles and jets are worn out. Also, major parts like piston rings, pistons, cranks, etc are pretty difficult to get. If you kill an FZR250 engine it's time to find another engine; although that's not overly expensive ($500-1000).
i live in duns (am willing to take it to perth for genuine interest) and am looking to sell my fizzer in a few months time... have done heaps of work to it, recently reconditioned the engine, am currently in the process of retuning the engine, and then she should be ready to sell?
just incase - its a 90 3ln with exup, done just over 30 000 ks, black and blue, tinted screen, roo racing carbon fibre exhaust, religiously maintaned things i have done to it: seats recovered new screen (dark tinted) repacked the rear suspension arm bearings new rear tyre - pirelli sport demon 140/70-17 (front is still fairly good) cleaned, balanced, tuned, set the float levels on the carbies new fuel filter new spark plugs new leads reconditioned the head valve clearances replaced o-rings in the cooling system pipes, as well as checked the impeller (good condition) stripped, treated and resprayed front fairing frame cleaned and tuned exup replaced oil and oil filter flushed and replaced coolant (tectaloy 100+) new battery replaced rear brake pads (~1500ks ago) things you may need to look at doing: speedo cable (only just started jumping a little) chain and sprockets prob need doing in a year or two still decent needs a new thermostat (can do as a condition of sale) doesnt have a fuel pump - only needed if you want to get every last bit out of your tank
